Position Summary:
As a Strategy Operations Manager, you'll work with different business leads and teams to execute the company's strategy across the organization, both domestically and internationally, with a focus on Cross Border Trades (CBT). Reporting to the Head of Strategy Operations, you'll oversee the critical operations of the company, particularly in the CBT space, and work closely with the Head of Strategy and Operations to improve the business infrastructure and report progress on projects. Additionally, you'll be an expert in CBT and help the company find solutions to complex business decisions in that area. Your cross-functional expertise will enable you to work across the organization and with external stakeholders to negotiate and implement agreements with cross-border partners, improve the customer experience, and drive revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage operational systems, processes, and infrastructure.
  • Seek out opportunities for improvement or revision within scope.
  • Drive strategic projects for initiatives in Japan and Korea.
  • Identify, anticipate, and track operational and tactical risks, and provide strategic solutions.
  • Manage day-to-day KPI metrics and operations, balancing responsibilities of various business lines.
  • Collaborate with Head of Strategy & Operations on special planning and department projects.
  • Implement horizontal initiatives, such as promotions, to impact the entire seller base.
  • Monitor and maintain a healthy external seller ecosystem and alert stakeholders of issues.
  • Create business review reports for the global leadership team, including marketing budget management.


Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in business, management, or a related field.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in Japanese and English; Korean fluency is a plus.
  • Professional Experience: At least 5 years of experience in e-commerce or strategic consulting/management.
  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills in Japanese and English.
  • Financial Management: Ability to generate and manage a marketing budget.
  • Leadership Abilities: Demonstrated leadership and personnel management skills.
  • Technical Knowledge: Exceptional knowledge of service and application delivery, including successful service level agreement accomplishments.
  • Analytical Competence: Strong mathematical, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable in a dynamic, fast-paced environment; able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Cultural Fit: Passion for eBay's unique start-up culture and a drive to effect change.

Please note the followings when applying for eBay Japan's positions:

  • We implement hybrid work: Employees are expected to work 3 days onsite and 2 days remote a week. For those who have preschool children could work 2 days onsite and 3 days remote a week under a condition. Full remote work option is not available.
  • We implement staggered time where employees can vary their start and end times between 7:00 – 10:00 AM and 16:00 – 19:00 respectively.
  • Relocation would be needed at the candidate's expense if the s/he lives afar from our office in Tokyo.
  • Foreign nationals must already have the work visa/status at time of application.
  • Must to take background check before joining eBay Japan.
  • The compensation will be custom-determined based on the individual's experience.
