We seek a results-oriented, forward-thinking Engineering Leader to steer our embedded software team towards excellence. This is a Senior Engineering Manager role that will be based out of Danaher India Development Centre (IDC) and reports to the Director of Leica Biosystems at IDC. The leader will have to opportunity to lead full-stack embedded software development team, the ideal candidate will blend technical acumen, project management prowess, and a strategic vision.
What do we expect from this role?
Technical Leadership:
- Offer technical leadership and guidance to our embedded engineers, on software design engineering.
- Expertise in product development and system engineering involving Electronics and Embedded Software disciplines.
- Leading Embedded Software team and working with global partners, Product Management, PMO, Service, Usability/Clinician and cross-functional teams
- Stay updated on industry advancements to keep the team at the forefront of innovation.
Project Management:
- Supervise the product development lifecycle ensuring timely, quality deliverables.
- Forge collaborative relationships with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
Team Development
- Hire, train, grow, lead and nurture a world-class engineering team consisting of R&D engineers.
- Cultivate a collaborative, innovative team culture through mentorship and professional growth opportunities.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations to enhance individual and team performance.
Technical Expertise
- Deep understanding of embedded Linux development, C/C++, RTOS, and low-level programming.
- Experience/Exposure to Software Design For Reliability (DFR) will be a desired skill.
Process Improvement and Optimization
- Implement and improve engineering processes, workflows, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and productivity. Desired expertise areas would be Software Design for reliability, IEC 14385 and IEC62304 standards understanding.
- Identify and invest in technology, process enhancements, and continuous delivery methods that boost team productivity.
- Implements and optimizes policies & procedures regarding document storage, sharing & transmission.
Strategic Planning
- Align engineering initiatives with company strategy alongside senior leadership.
- Lead crafting and realising a competency and capability growth roadmap, technology roadmap for a global R&D team to deliver engineering excellence and business outcomes.
Qualifications:
What we think you need to succeed in this role:
- Bachelor's/master’s degree in software electrical/electronic engineering, Mechatronics or related field.
- 13+years of industry experience with 5+ years of hands-on experience in embedded software development.
- At least 3+ years in a leadership role, managing and scaling embedded software engineering teams.
- Proficiency in Linux (OS development), Embedded OS like Free RTOS, Embedded C, and Embedded C++.
- Exceptional communication skills and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- A strategic thinker, with the ability to drive decision-making based on data, user feedback, and the broader vision of the company.
- Experience with embedded software in an FDA-regulated environment (e.g., life science, diagnostics, instrumentation, reagents, or other FDA-regulated space)
