R&D Engineer - Field Application Support

ABB Electrification Distribution Solutions (ELDS) are a global leader in power distribution solutions, delivering pioneering low and medium-voltage innovations and services. We are looking for an R&D Electrical Engineer to reinforce our Field Application Engineering team. Thanks to a deep knowledge of the division product portfolio and the relevant final applications, our Field Application engineers take care of technically developing opportunities for ABB business.

This position reports to

R&D Team Lead

Your responsibilities

• Support of customers, especially in the identification of major segment plant criticalities.
• Handle the declination of products in solutions for customers and new ABB initiatives.
• Work in collaboration with R&D product design teams, Product Management and Marketing functions and Sales forces, with special attention to the contact with customers.
• Operate as a consultant for the customer, providing proposals and innovative solutions by the execution of simulation studies performed with simulation applications, specifically EMTP-RV and ETAP.

Your background

• A master’s degree in Electrical engineering.
• Previous experience in Power System design and Electrical application is desired.
• Knowledge of industrial processes is an advantage, focused on MV Power System innovation.
• Knowledge of EMTP, ETAP, Matlab e Simulink software.
• Fluent in Italian and have good knowledge (B1 level or higher) of spoken and written English.
• Good communication skills, networking and teamworking capabilities.
