You will be joining a dynamic People team that is passionate about fostering an inclusive and vibrant work culture, serving as a key pillar in driving Pan Macmillan’s strategic objectives and vision.

Your role

Reporting into the Director of People and Culture, you will be a strategic partner in developing and enhancing our people's potential. You will anticipate needs, devise plans for the future, and align our people strategy with our business goals.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Support the Director of People and Culture in developing and fulfilling a people strategy that is aligned with the organisation's strategic objectives

  • Manage a small team of People partners and coordinators/advisors

  • Lead and oversee the implementation of strategic people initiatives, ensuring they are executed effectively and in a timely manner, e.g. a yearly engagement survey

  • Drive a proactive approach to people management, actively identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing solutions

  • Consult and advise on strategic workforce planning, talent management, leadership development, and employee engagement initiatives

  • Analyse trends and metrics in partnership with the People team to develop solutions, programs, and policies

  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues and conduct effective, fair, and objective investigations where required

  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g. coaching, counselling, career development, performance improvement)

  • Maintain an awareness of the latest trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law, applying this knowledge to internal policy and practice

  • Manage the pay review and bonus process for the organisation

  • Commercial management of the HR budgets

  • Deputise for the Director of People & Culture where appropriate

  • Contribute towards the Making a Difference pillars (DEI, literacy, sustainability) and set an example to your team.

Essential experience and knowledge you’ll need to succeed:

  • A positive, strategic and hands-on approach to problem-solving and decision-making

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Accomplished relationship building skills

  • Proficient knowledge of employment law and regulations

  • Solid experience with HR metrics and analysis of HR data

  • Experience in conflict resolution, disciplinary processes and workplace investigations

  • Excellent leadership and people management skills

  • Demonstrated competency in strategic human resource practices

  • Ability to work on many projects at the same time and meet deadlines

  • The ideal candidate will have substantial HR experience, preferably in a strategic role within the media industry.

This is a full time, permanent, and will be based in our offices in Farringdon, London, with some flexibility to work from home each week.
