Pan, the biggest and fastest growing division of Pan Macmillan, achieved remarkable results last year. Our industry leading Communications team was central to our success, delivering sales-driving campaigns over and over again. We are now seeking a talented and experienced publicist to deliver PR campaigns on some of our biggest new non-fiction and fiction releases.

Key tasks of the role:

• To plan and implement creative, effective, audience-appropriate communication campaigns to promote some of Pan’s lead fiction and non-fiction titles
• To work closely with Communications, Sales and Editorial teams throughout the campaign period – from acquisition onwards
• To provide extremely high author and agent care, develop and maintain excellent relationships with other key external stakeholders such as talent managers
• To build and maintain strong relationships with a broad range of media contacts, journalists, online communities, partner channels, bloggers and retailers in order to maximise PR opportunities and sales
• To work closely with our US and international counterparts to ensure that campaigns are closely linked, complementary and holistic where relevant
• To be a champion for Pan and to continue to build on its first-class reputation both internally and externally
• To contribute to author pitches and read new submissions, and contribute to decisions for future publishing investment
• Mentorship of publicity assistants and press officers

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and knowledge:

• Proven track record delivering publicity campaigns in a publishing/media environment
• Established media contacts
• Highly organised, with excellent time management
• Able to prioritise effectively and stay calm under pressure
• Excellent communication skills, both written and in person
• A self-starter able to work under own initiative and solve problems
• An interest in and knowledge of all forms of media: broadcast, print and online
• Skilled at building close working relationships with authors, where you collaborate over ideas, share expertise and provide support through the publication process
• A team player who is used to working in both small and large teams

This is a full time, permanent role, and will be based in our offices in Farringdon, London, with some flexibility to work from home each week. Our preference would be a candidate who can start June/July at the latest.

Salary starting from: £41,000 onwards
