Day in the Life of a Power Quality Product Manager
In this role, you are responsible for building a winning product strategy to drive long-term growth in Fluke’s Power Quality business. On a typical day, you might conduct some voice-of-customer research to bolster and reinforce your understanding of the pain points faced by our customers that can be addressed through product innovation. You then might have a call with the engineering lead for your soon-to-be-launched new product to problem-solve a technical feasibility issue with the lens of how any required changes might affect the customer. Later, you’ll meet with the product marketing team to finalize a campaign for the existing products in your portfolio. Success in this role means you’ve got your eye on what needs to happen now to drive short-term commercial success and what needs to happen in the long-term to drive growth in the business. While you’ll work cross-functionally with engineering, marketing, operations, and quality, among others, your core teammates will be other Product Managers, applications and solutions specialists, and business operations.
Responsibilities
- Leads strategy and decision-making for the product line.
- Builds plans and programs driven by customer needs, expressed in both product roadmaps and business justification communications.
- Deep subject matter authority understanding of customer product feature trade-offs, workflow management, and compensating behaviors
- Monitors competition and global market positions
- Is responsible for the customer segmentation of the business and determines which markets & market segments to address.
- Leads the successful conversion of key roadmap priorities into profitable business plans via lean product development methodology.
- Leads the product lifecycle process with a commercial focus, from conceptualization to roadmap, to end-of-life policies and execution.
- Partners with Regional Commercial Strategy Managers to understand regional differences in the market and customer.
Your Team
You’ll join an international team of product and customer experts with a diverse range of experiences. We work cross functionally to define and execute strategy for our product lines. While much of our work is done virtually, we are intentional about when it’s optimal to be in person and enjoy in-person team time throughout the year.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Technical/Engineering; MBA preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive and broad-based product marketing, product development, program management, technical marketing, brand, and product leadership experience.
- Demonstrated experience in leading bold product planning strategies applying Voice of the Customer (VOC) to identify growth opportunities for the company.
- Experience working within branded B2B and/or B2C environments with exposure to large-scale projects and cross-functional team leadership.
- Ability to lead and operate effectively in a matrix organization.
