Level Designer

At Ripple Effect, an evolution of Battlefield's DICE LA, we are building the AAA studio of tomorrow. Our Los Angeles-based game studio is dedicated to crafting community-first experiences powered by cutting-edge technology and genre-defining innovation. We welcome artists of all levels and backgrounds to join us either in-studio or fully remote as we build the next great Battlefield experience.

We are looking for a Level Designer like you to join us in our mission to create amazing games and experiences, and to elevate ourselves and our craft. You will report to our Design Line Manager. We are considering on-site and hybrid working options and welcome full-time remote candidates who are within a three-hour time difference to the Pacific Time Zone to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Develop high-level concepts for locations, and objectives
  • Bring levels through production to launch
  • Communicate your designs and ideas to the team
  • Gather, compile, and use feedback and telemetry to hone the player experience in your levels
  • Collaborate with all disciplines on the game team to ensure that levels maintain a high quality
  • Champion established game rules and ideas within your work, ensuring it makes for the best possible gameplay experience
  • Support your teammates through knowledge-sharing and documentation
  • Participate constructively and respectfully in the critique of your work, and the work of others
  • Deconstruct levels and communicate conclusions to a wide audience

Qualifications

  • At least one shipped game as a Level Designer
  • 2+ years of experience designing levels within multiplayer or coop titles
  • Technical background with experience in visual scripting
  • Level editor experience (for engines such as Frostbite, Source, or Unreal)
  • Strong documentation and visualization skills
  • Enjoy creative design challenges, and value respectful feedback processes

Valuable Additional Skills

  • FPS experience
  • Degree or experience in art, architecture, interior design, or industrial design

BC COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these locations. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.
EA has listed the base salary ranges it in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in the locations listed, as of the time of this posting. Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.
BASE SALARY RANGES
• British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria):
º $77,600 - $119,000 CAN Annually
Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
