Voyage Services Port Optimisation and simulation product line services a complex network of port operators, authorities, and coastguards. Navigation and technology simulation solutions help the industry to close competence gaps, attract and prepare people for a more digitised, tech savvy and greener future of shipping.
As the simulation business is growing, a Simulation Engineering & Support team has been formed in the Customer Support organisation. We are strengthening the team with new
IT Engineer – Simulator projects
position to ensure sustainable growth and people management on this important area. IT Engineer – Simulator projects will report to Manager, Simulation Engineering & Support.
Location for these position is a Wärtsilä office in Valbonne or Nantes France, Gothenburg Sweden, Hamburg Germany or Helsinki Finland.
What kind of a person we are looking for?
Someone who is interested in hands-on working with computers, helping customers to solve problems, travelling around Europe for work and becoming a marine professional. Your task is to help customers with troubleshooting, both software and hardware, as well as installing and commissioning new simulators.We give you the challenge of getting 100 computers to work together and form a simulator. As a person, you are self-motivated, structured and stress-resistant. You like to work independently and are driven to methodically solve problems. You have also understood the importance of engaging with the customer and are 100% dedicated to the customer when problems arise.
As IT Engineer – Simulator projects, your work will focus on these responsibilities:
- Preparation of the System Design and Facility Requirement documentation
- Participating to sales phase product scoping
- Conduct installation and commissioning of simulation systems
- Communication and collaboration with customers and external partners
- Coordinating project plans together with Project Management
- Collaboration with subcontractors according to need
- Willingness to do upselling when visiting customer sites
Your background:
- Burning interest in IT Technology and are used to screwing up your own computers: We value your practical knowledge and experience more than your formal education.
- Good troubleshooting skills in both networks and computers
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Windows client and server
- Flexibility and ability to travel within Europe
- Fluent in written and spoken English, other languages considered as benefit
- Driving license
