Frontend Developer

At Fraunhofer IAIS, around 360 employees research and develop individual solutions for the integration and analysis of data for our funding agencies and our customers from the business community. Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Big Data, Multimedia Content Analytics, Information Integration and Enterprise Modeling and Analysis are the main content areas of our work.

As a frontend developer in the NetMedia department, you will work in a team with dedicated colleagues and develop user-friendly interfaces for AI-based systems. Guided by experienced experts, you will contribute to the latest technologies in the areas of automatic speech recognition, deep learning and speech assistance systems.

Do you want to build user-centric dialog systems for a variety of tasks and domains? In doing so, you will participate in all phases of the system lifecycle: architecture, development, and DevOps. Your areas of responsibility are varied, creative and challenging.

What you will do

• Conception, planning and implementation of frontend systems with common web technologies
• Implementation and testing of responsive and adaptive web applications that consider usability and accessibility of web standards
• Conception and implementation of web interfaces with Reach and Node.js, as well as testing of the implementations with Jest and Cypress
• Working in agile development processes
• Supporting the UX team with your technical expertise and knowledge of methods

What you bring to the table

• A completed academic university degree (Master, Diploma) in computer science, business informatics or in a comparable discipline
  
• Experience in the implementation and testing of websites, as well as in interface design
• Good knowledge in the development of single page applications
• Excellent programming skills in Javascript, Typescript, HTML5, CSS and React
• Basic knowledge of using Docker, Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment systems
• Experience with FARM stack (FastAPI, React and MongoDB) is a plus
• A high level of initiative and personal responsibility, as well as a willingness to engage in hands-on research projects and industry collaborations
• Fluency in written and spoken English (min C1), furthermore advanced German skills (min B2) are an advantage
• You enjoy working in a team and are able to present work results in oral and written form in a convincing manner

The weekly working time is 39 hours.
