Our engineering, project management, services and solutions portfolio covers a wide range of industries - Mining, Pulp & Paper, Metals, Aluminum and Cement, Data centers and Food and BeverageThe role reports to the Manager R&D Engineering 2 and is located in Cleveland, Ohio.

Your responsibilities

• Porting of existing embedded firmware to newly designed hardware
• Investigating and resolving embedded firmware bugs in existing products
• Adding functional enhancements and diagnostic capabilities to real-time controller modules, IO modules, and communication modules
• Designing, assembling, and configuring functional test environments in support of troubleshooting efforts and design validations
• The co-op will have the opportunity to work with senior engineers who will provide direction, advice, and guidance for each project
• Mentoring and networking opportunities
• Personal and professional development programing will be offered to all interns. This programing will include global and local sessions

Your background

• Currently enrolled in a degree program in the US
• Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering Major
• Must be currently authorized to work for ABB in the US
• Experience with C and/or C++ programming languages
• Experience with VHDL programming language
• Experience using a software debugging environment
• Willingness to learn specialized tools for embedded development, such as background debuggers and in-circuit emulators
• Basic knowledge of oscilloscope and/or logic analyzer use
