Discovery Postdoc - Data Science
About the Role
You will have the opportunity to work in a matrix team consisting of data analysts, sequencing technology experts and disease area biologists. As a member of both the liver research team and Data Science community, you will also benefit from global community of more than 200 experts with extensive knowledge and resources in patient sample profiling, liver biology, data analysis, data engineering and machine learning. You will have the opportunity to uncover new mechanisms of liver metabolism and regeneration, contribute novel findings to our Biomedical Research projects and to publish your work in leading scientific journals. Existing academic collaborations and connections to the international liver research community, access to patient samples and established genomics profiling technology infrastructure, offer outstanding scientific and development opportunities.
Key responsibilities
• Processing, quality control, and statistical analysis of spatial transcriptomics, single cell and other types of sequencing as well as imaging data in the context of liver regeneration and metabolism
• Development of processing strategies for spatial transcriptomics data by combining existing public and commercial tools with innovative solutions
• Translation of the data into biological knowledge, presentation and discussion of results in internal meetings and academic conferences, publication of the results in high-impact journals
• Planning of validation/follow-up experiments with disease area biologists and bioinformaticians
• Close collaboration in a team of data analysts, sequencing experts, and biologists

Role Requirements
• Scientific background with PhD degree in bioinformatics, computer science, computational biology, life sciences, statistics, mathematics, physics, or related field
• Experience in the processing and analysis of next generation sequencing data, especially at the single cell level
• Demonstrated coding ability in Python, R/Bioconductor, Bash, etc., in Unix environment
• Knowledge of fundamental concepts in molecular biology, cellular biology, statistics, and bioinformatics including biological databases and web tools
