If you join Microsoft’s United Nations and International Organisations team, you will be part of a team that works with the multilateral system on how technology can help solve global challenges, applying expertise, collaborating with partners, and driving multistakeholder action.
As a Programme Director in Geneva, you will support our engagement in an important centre of multilateralism, and home to a number of important organisations both within and beyond the United Nations. You will develop and implement strategies to engage policy makers, and establish partnerships with stakeholders from governments, civil society and the private sector. You will also help identify possible interventions as well as policy approaches for leveraging technology to address areas such as skilling, disaster management, cross border trade and economic empowerment.
You will work collaboratively with teams from across Microsoft, facilitating others in their engagement, and delivering a real contribution to the global agenda. This opportunity will allow you to deepen your understanding of global policy, develop your advocacy and communications skills, and engage with a wide range of partners within and beyond Microsoft.
Working closely with subject matter experts across Microsoft, you will cover a range of policy issues, supporting inclusive growth, environmental sustainability and fundamental rights, as well as engaging on technology policy initiatives and projects relating to data governance and privacy, digital security, digital safety, digital inclusion, and responsible AI.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's / Masters Degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, or related field AND 2+ years experience in united nations, government affairs, corporate affairs, public policy, or government.
- OR 5+ years experience in united nations, government affairs, corporate affairs, public policy, or government.
- This role requires proficiency in written, reading, and conversational English as all business operations as well as customer communications are conducted in English.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
- E xperience in developing and managing strategic relationships to advocate and influence public/technology policy priorities.
- Ability to collaberatively define / initiate research papers / projects as well as convenings to address policy concerns and garner consensous aligned with Microsoft POV.
- Experience in developing and managing multi stakeholder programs / interventions leveraging technology sol utions will be an advantage.
- Experience of working in a multila t eral environment with senior officials and other international stakeholders (government authorities, civil society, academia and the private sector).
- Proficiency in French would be advantageous in the Geneva environment.
Responsibilities
- Strategy /Program Management - You will play a key role in Microsoft’s engagement with Geneva based International Organisations, programme managing the company’s engagement on priority issues, strategies, and/or events. You will help develop, Microsoft’s policy agenda and advocacy strategies, creating and managing timelines, budgets, and plans. You will d evelop and implement strategies for engaging with external partners to reflect Microsoft's policy agenda in key areas.
- External Relationships – You will help build and maintain a strong network and coalition with governmental and non-governmental stakeholders (e.g., diplomatic missions, industry organisations, think tanks, academics, businesses, civil society).
- External Communication - You will contribute to the team’s communication framework and messaging in partnership with the Communications team for Microsoft. You will participate in internal and external events, and be active with driving social media engagement on key issues. You will support executive engagement and participation in international events.
- Internal Collaboration - You will act as a project lead across country and team lines. You will collaborate with and support teammates and other internal stakeholders across Microsoft, including by advising on public policy, geo-political topics and/or cultural context.
