In charge of a commodity for the DACH region, buyers are the key interface between Suppliers, internal Functions and Projects. Their role covers the full scope of Procurement activity from the development of strategies locally to the first delivery and management of contracts.
They work closely with the Global Commodity Management team as well as the Supply Chain team, to understand business requirements across the region and the impact this has on their supply base and the Contracts they are managing.
Buyers are part of material bids process, implement sourcing strategies, negotiate contracts, place first orders with suppliers and manage commercial relationships.
The Buyers are working in very close collaboration with the Supplier Quality Assurance, the Engineering, the Project Managers, the Project Procurement Managers, the Material Planners, the Logistics, etc, and will together form the project team necessary to allocate each contract to the right partners.
Buyers take full ownership of the supplier relationship for the contracts they manage.
Responsibilities:
Actively take part in the commodity strategy by providing input to the global commodity management
Apply and adapt the global procurement strategy to the local needs
Manage your commodity from the bids phase to the first delivery
Work with internal stakeholders to define requirements in order to send out detailed RFQ
Evaluate offers and present sourcing options that meet business requirements
Conduct in depth cost and spend analysis in order to develop cost savings initiatives through various cost reduction options
Carry out administrative responsibilities to ensure process compliance and contracting activities
Ensure all selected suppliers are compliant to service level agreements
Establish and manage contractual framework
Supplier evaluation and assessment
Report and immediately respond to unforeseen supply failures, working with manufacturing and supplier to avoid supply chain interruptions
Close cooperation with other functions during implementation of the new suppliers/technology/products

Our ideal candidate:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Commerce with commodity related background.
Relevant experience in a previous role, within the manufacturing industry
English and German language required. Other languages are a plus.
Capable of leading global negotiations for high value contracts
Strong knowledge of the key aspects of the RFI/RFQ sourcing process
Ability to understand value streams, cost drivers and how to break down cost structures
Ability to understand and develop legal contracts
Results driven, self- starter, problem solver with proven ability to drive projects to a successful conclusion
Team oriented and excellent communication skills are essential
Flexibility to travel on short notice
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft office products with an emphasis on Excel.
