Gen Re currently offers an excellent opportunity for an Azure Cloud AI Engineer to an appropriately qualified individual within the Global IT Services. This role may be performed remotely within the United Kingdom, but the individual must be able to report on-site into our London, United Kingdom office in a hybrid approach, as needed. This role could also be located in Stamford, CT, USA as a hybrid role.
Position Description / Requirements
The Azure Cloud AI Engineer is a member of the Enterprise Data Services (EDS) team within Global IT Services.
In this capacity, the candidate will work with a team of empathetic, autonomy-supported, well-connected, competent, and passionate data analysts, data engineers, data architects, and data scientists (i.e., a data team) responsible for empowering the organization with modern data science and AI tools, technologies, and workflows.
The ideal candidate will be highly empathetic, collaborative, organized, analytical, and be expected to partner effectively with other business and service units.
Azure Cloud AI Engineer Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement cloud-based AI solutions using Azure services.
- Collaborate with data scientists, developers, project managers, and external teams in an agile environment.
- Orchestrate the development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines for deploying and testing AI applications.
- Ensure governance, security, and compliance of all cloud-based AI solutions.
- Research and recommend new technologies and tools to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of AI development processes.
- Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to other developers.
- Work with cloud security on encryption, certificate management, and network security.
- Create clear documentation on work products and code bases.
- Understand vulnerability alerts provided by internal security tools and develop custom infrastructure.
- Develop code consistent with Gen Re security policies, provide recommendations, and implement those recommendations.
- Translate the enterprise's technology future-state architecture vision into principles, guidelines, standards, and patterns to ensure alignment with broader strategic goals.
- Own and drive the Enterprise Architecture governance process.
- Stay informed about industry best practices in AI.
Experience/Skills Required
- The ideal candidate will have a combination of IT skills, engineering skills, analytics skills, AI skills, and insurance or re-insurance knowledge with an advanced technical or computer science background.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven evidence of hands-on experience in software engineering, software delivery, and solution architecture.
- Experience with secure software development life cycle methodologies (e.g., Agile) and knowledge of current industry best practices for technology.
- Strong experience in cloud-based AI development.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C#.
- Experience with AI services such as OpenAI, AI Search, AI Document Intelligence, etc.
- Strong experience with provisioning, configuring, and securing Azure solutions.
- Strong experience in automating CI/CD pipelines in Azure.
- Strong experience with integrating Azure storage (e.g., Data Lake, Cosmos DB, Microsoft SQL Server, etc.) in broader solutions.
- Experience in deployment and functionality of container services (e.g., Azure Kubernetes Service).
- Good understanding of cloud security best practices, including encryption, certificate management, and network security.
- Proficiency with presentations and leading discussions with stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
Additional Experience / Skills Desired
- Experience with implementing Actuarial concepts (e.g., pricing) into analytics systems.
Experience in governing third-party service delivery partners.

Salary range: $91,000 - $152,000. The annual base salary range posted represents a broad range of salaries around the U.S. and is subject to many factors including but not limited to credentials, education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance, skills and/or training.
