Our client is a leader in orchestration for the distributed edge, delivers visibility, control and security for edge computing deployments. They are a 50 person US start-up that is ramping up quickly and have a team of 25 developers in Germany by the end of the year (probably 50 the following year).
We are looking for an experienced Leader of Software Engineering that has deep experience and a passion for Open Source projects. The ideal candidate is seeking new challenges and wants to make their mark by contributing to the design and pioneering the world of edge computing. The role would need to be based in Berlin and there would be a strong base + equity.
Their solution enables customers the freedom of deploying and managing any app on any hardware at scale and connecting to any cloud or on-premises systems. Distributed edge solutions require a diverse mix of technologies and domain expertise, and their solution provides customers with an open, vendor-agnostic orchestration framework that breaks down silos and provides the needed agility and future proofing as they evolve their connected operations.
Qualifications
- Candidates should have a track record of successful product delivery in the open sources industry for a start up or CTO for a customised product
- Contributed to an open source project in the past, a record with upstreaming features in the open source environment.
- Demonstrated experience building software in partnership with the open source community
- The ability to plan, organize & execute on software products in a timely manner to a high quality.
- Demonstrated technical and people leadership skills, an appreciation for open source.
- Passion for high quality, usable, fast and reliable software
- Solid management experience with multiple reporting teams
- Experience with hands on software architecture, design and implementation in all areas of technology, architecture, data design, and user interface
- Create a productive and fun environment for teams of highly skilled engineers to flourish
- In-depth knowledge of Linux OS in the areas of networking, hypervisors, virtualization software etc.
- Substantial experience with Linux kernel internals and concepts a understanding Linux kernel development principles
- Demonstrated experience managing or leading a team of software engineers
- Understanding of agile software development methodologies
- Experience with driving product and process quality improvements across the organization.
- Appreciation for best practices in relation to building secure products.
