The Opportunity
This position works out of our Irving, TX location in the Core Diagnostics Division. Our diagnostic solutions are used in hospitals, laboratories, and clinics around the globe. The crucial information derived from our tests, instruments and informatics systems are often the first step in patient care decision making for hundreds of health conditions from heart attacks to blood disorders to infectious diseases and cancers.
A Senior Facilities Engineer will join the Dallas Campus Facilities Shared Services team, reporting to the Facilities Engineering Supervisor. Work will include a wide variety of assignments and management of projects associated with the operation of a 600,000 square foot campus. Work will include design and construction management services as well as coordination of third party engineering support and services associated with all aspects of construction, remodel, modification and operation of facilities at the Abbott Dallas campus.
What You’ll Work On
Manage all phases of Facilities Engineering projects from initial concept through scope development, design, cost estimation, funding requests, implementation and closure. Develop project plans, ensure milestones are met and adjust resources as required to meet commitments.
Ensure compliance to Abbott Engineering standards, applicable building codes, fire/life safety codes and facilities related quality system compliance.
Write specifications and requests for proposals.
Write Requests for Capital Expenditure for projects.
Select vendors/contractors to execute work after detailed contractor evaluation.
Coordinate with vendor/contractor and Abbott Dallas Facilities Maintenance for requirements, planning and execution of projects through completion, considering manufacturing schedule and minimizing process downtime.
Interact with stakeholders including functional managers, finance, quality, procurement and other facilities team members across the site.
Develop expertise in water systems and environmental temperature and humidity monitoring for regulated processes.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors Degree Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline, OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Minimum 5 years of plant engineering experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
5-7 years of specific plant/Facilities Engineering experience.
Experience with HVAC equipment, electrical systems, and project management.
Working knowledge of ASHRAE, SMACNA, and NFPA standards. Working knowledge of IMC, IPC, and IBC codes.
LEED or Green Globes accreditation is a plus.
Experience in managing outside contractors and consultants.
Experience with all Microsoft Office software tools as well as Microsoft Project and CAD tools such as AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate work with all levels of the organization.

The base pay for this position is $72,700.00 – $145,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
