Senior Engineer Operational Technologies Abbott Nutrition

The Sr. Engineer Operational Technologies will be part of the global Engineering organization. Division Engineering has the responsibility to support the regional projects and Plants. It supports the development of long term plans and executes these in the region. Operational Technologies covers all Level 1 & 2 applications, real-time reporting & analysis systems, Batch operations and inspection equipment.

Your main responsibility is to support and lead projects in the region with a focus on the EU Plants in Cootehill, Granada and Zwolle. This ranges from large scale implementations to detailed technical support and system design. You will also be the linking pin in the region to support knowledge development and sharing.

We are looking for candidates with a broad interest in Operational Technologies within Medical Nutrition.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Support and maintain manufacturing operation (data) systems including hardware and software. For example:

  • Control Systems (SCADA, HMI – iFix/Ignition)

  • Vibration Monitoring / Asset Performance management systems.

  • Communication between Industrial control systems (OPC)

  • OSIsoft PI, SEEQ, ZPI (OEE reporting & Analysis), EFT (Energy Monitoring)

  • Software change management and asset monitoring servers

  • Batch Management software (example: iBatch)

  • At Line inspection equipment and systems.

• Lead and support manufacturing software system validation compliance with (local) regulatory requirements.

• Develop or implement standard manufacturing asset structures for data collection and data contextualization.

• Support and develop manufacturing data visualization, reporting and analysis using Division and Corporate standards. 

• Ensure secured IT infrastructure for continuous manufacturing operations with the Corp IT organization.

• Anticipate future needs of the business. Benchmark internally and externally. Recognize indicators of future opportunities; initiate plans to acquire new skills required by changes in technology.

• Apply expertise with project execution and convey technical knowledge to all areas and disciplines involved;

• Support and/or lead projects.

Educational background and Work Experience

• A Diploma/Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or closely related discipline, or equivalent technical experience plus demonstrated competence, with a desired 5+ years of significant IT

• Engineering, and/or operational experience. 

• A post-graduate education / degree may contribute towards the desired years of experience.

• Project management experience minimum 2 years;

• Interacts well with diverse groups within Engineering / IT and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators.

• Possesses interpersonal skills to negotiate and reconcile differences.

• Has extensive knowledge on Asset Performance Management and related fields such as vibration monitoring. (pre)

• Has a technical background in health care, nutritional products, consumer goods, pharmaceutical, or similar industries (preferred).
