We are looking for a “Senior DirectorGovernment Affairs”, with focus on Strategic Technologies who will support the Government Affairs teams globally with a focus on Germany and the EU. The ideal candidate

• has a strong affinity to technology and a willingness to deep-dive into technology markets ranging from artificial intelligence (AI) to industrial data and additive manufacturing;
• understands the impact of changes in regulation on national and global technology markets;
• is responsible for engaging and partnering with policy makers on digital policy issues;
• understands and can assess geopolitical drivers and trends and their respective impacts on digital and manufacturing policies and regulation connected to Siemens.

Your New Role – What You Will Do

• You will leverage your profound expertise in technology, digitalization and relevant business models to shape an enabling ecosystem for the digital transformation of industry
• To achieve this, you be the liaison between the regulatory experts in the Government Affairs team and technology-related expert functions within Siemens (e.g. Technology, Strategy, Businesses)
• You will leverage your broad network to engage and partner with policy makers and the tech expert community from leading companies, academia and think tanks
• You will use your sound (geo-)political understanding to assess the drivers, the content and potential impacts (risks and opportunities) of technology and digitalization, especially in the industrial B2B context
• You will represent Siemens interests externally in relevant policy fora and business associations
• Ideally based in Berlin, you will work closely with other Government Affairs as well as legal, communications, and business functions in Germany, the EU and major global markets

Your Responsibilities

• Research, anticipate and monitor developments related to the Siemens Core Technologies, acting as a liaison and “translator” between the Siemens’ technology experts and the Government Affairs team as well as external stakeholders
• Assess and prioritize advocacy efforts based on your understanding of the Siemens Core Technologies, their market potential and regulatory developments, anticipating potential roadblocks for the use and scaling of innovative technologies
• Write briefings related to tech policy for Managing Board Members and expert functions (e.g. Technology, Strategy, Businesses) in preparation of political meetings and high-level events
• Engage with policy makers to provide recommendations, shaping an innovation- and technology-friendly regulatory environment

Your Qualifications

• You have an excellent university degree (Master) in engineering, industrial engineering, computer sciences, business, political sciences or in a related field of expertise
• You have many (at least 5) years of professional experience in a relevant public or private environment e.g., in national ministries, the European Commission, think tanks, in European industry associations or in relevant departments of a large company
• You have an astute understanding of technology and digitalization, especially as means to foster decarbonization
• You have a proven track record of building trusted relationships with political stakeholders to foster an openness for technology
• You have demonstrated experience in compiling high level reports for top management in both German and English (C2 proficiency) with utmost attention to detail and quality
• You have a passion for politics and a keen interest in technology and digitalization
• You possess excellent written and oral communication skills, and you enjoy translating complex technological issues in political language
• You have project management skills to drive initiatives, taskforces and deliver on tight deadlines
• Integrity and compliance are cornerstones of your work ethic
