We are looking for a Senior Risk Engineer (m/f/d), with a focus on Electrical Engineering, ideally with solid previous experience working with converters and high voltage energy cables. The role can be based in Cologne, Hamburg, Stuttgart or Munich (Unterföhring) with regular site visits.
Your Team
Our Allianz Risk Consulting (ARC) team is made up of experienced engineers from a wide range of technical and scientific disciplines. The team provides a flexible range of risk consulting services.
We are able to call on many years of specific business risk experience – creating tailor-made risk management services to respond to unique challenges.
The Impact You Will Have
Reporting to the ARC Head of Natural Resources and Construction for Germany and Switzerland, you will be responsible for providing loss control expertise, support and assistance to Allianz Commercial and our customers, and to assist Allianz underwriting in risk selection and retention. You provide ongoing co-ordination and monitoring of the loss prevention activity, the servicing of assigned accounts and loss-control survey work. You will develop and maintain professional working relationships with our Underwriting, Distribution, Communications and Claims teams, as well as with our clients and brokers. Passionate about your fields of expertise, you will track technical developments and share knowledge with colleagues, looking for continual improvements in risk assessment criteria and tools in close alignment with Claims and Underwriting teams.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
- Carry out risk assessments for a large variety of plants and operational risk (prior to insurance coverage)
- Your focus is on Electrical Engineering / Energy projects especially converter and high voltage energy cable technologies e.g. for on- and offshore Windpower plants or PV Parks
- Plan and conduct risk control measures for insured risks
- Work with underwriting, clients and brokers to develop customized loss control programs and support the development of insurance programs
- Carry out desk top reviews, and plan and complete on-site surveys and remote surveys
- Generate and review required reports and recommendations, presenting results to Underwriters, clients and brokers
- Monitor 3rd parties ensuring adequate quality of work and monitoring budgets
- Follow up on technological developments in your area and proactively engage in knowledge exchange in internal expert groups, training internal and external clients
- Collaborate with colleagues of claims department on large losses and establish lessons learned
- Proactively support the development of data-based tools for simplified and optimized risk analysis
What You’ll Bring to the Role
We are looking for an experienced electrical engineer, ideally with a Masters’ qualification or equivalent, who has at least 5 years’ experience in industry with manufacturers, operators or service providers. Ideally you have expert knowledge of converters and/or high voltage energy cables for renewable energy applications such as on- and offshore wind or PV parks.
In addition, you bring:
- Commitment to remaining up-to-date with technological developments in these fields
- Native-level German and fluent English, and any additional languages would be an advantage
- Open-mindedness and curiosity, regarding technologies, our multicultural and international environment and adapting to change
Ideally you have experience in the following:
- Knowledge of generators, transformers and grids
- Project planning and implementation
- How insurance processes work in detail, having been in the industry or close to it
- Digitalization projects and data analysis
