Join WS Audiology's Signal Processing team in Erlangen, Germany, as a PostDoc in Audio Signal Processing (SIP). Dive into groundbreaking research, develop innovative solutions with your PhD research background in Audio Signal Processing.

About us

At WS Audiology, we are a diverse team of more than 30 dedicated and highly skilled specialists working on a multitude of different topics all around Audio Signal Processing. Not being familiar with hearing aids, one can hardly imagine the complexity and the possibilities of hearing aid processing.

We are pioneers in developing new algorithms, neural networks, detection methods, machine learning concepts for hearing aids. Join us in doing research in audio and sensor processing for hearing aids to optimize understanding and the listening experience with our hearing aids. You will be part of a small group of PhD students and a Post Doc within the Signal Processing team. You will also be integrated in the WSA Science network which allows exchanging on hearing aid research questions beyond Signal Processing.

What you will do

As a Signal Processing PostDoc, you ideally gained a lot of experience during your PhD in audio processing and you have a solid theoretical basis. You are interested in applying and increasing your knowledge in the field of hearing aids and gain practical experience for another 1-2 years with our Signal Processing team in Erlangen. You will have access to audio test labs and cutting-edge infrastructure wrt. Signal Processing, real-time processing, as well as training and realization of DNNs. Your specific research questions will be defined in collaboration with you based on your experience and our mutual interests, within the broad spectrum of audio processing for hearing aids, including:

  • Audio scene analysis or speaker detection, tracking, and analysis
  • Methods for Audio enhancement or improving speech intelligibility in noisy environments

You will have the possibility to closely collaborate with PhD students, and all other experienced SIP group members. You will report to our Global Head of Signal Processing.


What you bring

You have profound knowledge in Audio Signal Processing, a great expertise in machine learning methods, or neural networks based on your PhD. And you want to extend your knowledge and/or apply it in interesting field of hearing aids. Furthermore, you are motivated by working together with others in teams, sharing and exchanging ideas, defining joint targets to reach them with great success.

Summarizing, you most likely fit the following profile:

  • PhD in electrical/electronic engineering or medical engineering, or any other relevant discipline
  • Proficiency in digital Signal Processing, potentially also in machine learning and neural networks
  • Structured working, analytical thinking, and good problem-solving skills
  • Experiences in Signal Processing simulation, such as MATLAB / Simulink, or Python
  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, as English is our corporate language, and your thesis will be submitted in English
