The Director of Human Resources position is open for a new Waldorf Astoria hotel in Minsk, scheduled to commence operations in 2024.

The Director of Human Resources will manage HR-related activities, including pre-opening tasks such as pre-opening team member recruitment, setting pre-opening H/R strategies & plans, succession planning, talent management, recruitment, learning and development and training, performance management, compensation and benefits, and employee relations initiatives.


What will I be doing?
As the newly appointed HR director for the upcoming Waldorf Astoria hotel in Minsk, your primary role will be establishing a solid organizational foundation that aligns with the hotel's luxury brand standards. This entails initiating strategic HR planning well in advance of the opening, which includes workforce planning, recruitment of competent and diverse staff, and the development of comprehensive training programs to ensure service excellence.

 You will also be responsible for creating a positive and inclusive work culture, implementing competitive compensation packages, and ensuring compliance with local labour laws.

Close to the opening date, your focus will shift to finalizing recruitments, intensifying training sessions, and ensuring operational readiness across all HR systems. Post-opening, maintaining a continuous loop of performance management, employee engagement, and quality assurance will be crucial for long-term success and maintaining the high standards associated with the Waldorf Astoria brand.

Throughout this process, fostering open communication and a feedback-oriented environment will be vital in identifying areas for improvement and ensuring the hotel's successful launch.

Further, as the Director of Human Resources, you will be responsible for the effective management and performance of all Human Resources-related activities. This includes talent management, succession planning, learning and development and training, performance management, compensation and benefits, employee relations, and health and safety initiatives. Specifically, a Director of Human Resources will perform the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Plan and forecast the short and long-term talent requirements for the hotel to support its business plans
  • Maintain a best-practice recruitment approach, including the Company's vacancy management system, to attract the best applicants
  • Build a strong career and succession planning system to retain and develop talent
  • Implement training and development strategies to improve performance and customer service continuously
  • Oversee the hotel's Human Resources database and payroll system
  • Provide a framework for counselling, coaching, and welfare services
  • Manage the Opinion Survey and the calendar of Team Member social events
  • Manage and resolve, promptly and thoroughly, all employee relations issues
  • Maintain an awareness of competitor Human Resources activities and best practices

The Director of Human Resources serving Hilton brands is always working on behalf of our Guests and working with other Team Members. To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviours, skills, and values that follow:

    • Tertiary qualifications, or other collegiate-level degree, in Human Resources or related field, required
    • Previous Human Resources management experience in the hotel, leisure, and/or retail sector
    • Excellent leadership skills and exceptional communication skills
    • Strong commercial/business acumen
    • A passion for leadership and the vision to create a winning team
    • Fluency in Russian and English: Must be able to communicate effectively in both languages verbally and in writing.
    • Knowledge of Local Labor Laws: Must have a solid understanding of local labour regulations and practices
