As a Customs & Trade Leader need to work closely with all company divisions, import governmental agencies, and service providers in the Americas. The Customs and Trade Leader is responsible for import operations including customs brokers and express courier management, data analytics, and post entry reviews.

Transport Management Center Manager

Your responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations to ensure that ABB is operating in accordance to the rules and regulations as set forth by the corresponding US Government agency (Department of Commerce, Department of State, Customs and Border Protection etc.)
  • Maintain governance and oversight to respective responsible operating unit
  • Monitor regulatory and legislative changes within their operating unit to main regulator rigor and process change prior to implementation
  • Conduct supplier management duties, including interfacing with freight forwarders, customs brokers, US customs officers, and external customers
  • Ensure fast and compliant broker entry filing by providing transaction support and improving systems and communication between parties
  • Maintain working relationships with customs authorities, brokers, and express couriers, and freight forwarder
  • Identify and implement cost reduction strategies for duties and fees using trade agreements or duty-free programs and tariff provisions
  • Identify and implement process improvements related to KPIs, analytics, customs broker/express courier management & SOPs, and free trade qualification
  • Lower risks by developing and maintaining internal Customs assessments and corrective actions
  • Develop sound working relationships with key departments within the organization, e.g., Sourcing, Product Development, R&D, (Research & Development), Finance, Legal, Accounting, Distribution and Transport, etc.
  • Governance and oversight to HTS classification, customs valuation, country of origin determination, duty reduction programs, broker management, PGA requirements, record keeping, etc.
  • Support other initiatives as part of the US Trade and Logistics Center of Excellence

Your background

  • 2 years work experience in customs and trade
  • Bachelors Degree preferred
  • 5 plus years of strong experience in international trade and customs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables ,etc), Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills preferred
  • Ability to think critically and to make clear and well-reasoned decisions from a business perspective
  • Awareness and sensitivity to other cultures and ability to effectively work with colleagues in other countries and regions
  • Ability to multitask and work autonomously
  • Strong in collaborating, capable of both teamwork and working independently
  • Strong integrity and ethics as well as a strong sense of accountability
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-time zone environment
  • Broker’s License preferred
  • Candidate must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the United States
