The Opportunity

Due to an internal promotion, we are currently looking for a Bid Team Manager to join Toxicology Business located in Abingdon, Oxfordshire.
As a Bid Team Manager, you will have full responsibility for the Tenders process, which will include promoting the company to attract the maximum number of relevant Invitations to Tender, working with the various departments to ensure our product offering is as broad as possible in order to enable us to bid on the maximum number of ITTs received. In addition to this, you will also be responsible for recording and managing details relating to all client contracts, including the development of a system/process to achieve this, as well as assisting with the process of contract approval prior to sign off.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and manage the Bid Writers , ensuring that are trained appropriately, follow the Tender process, continue to enhance the use of the Tenders Portal and do their work in high standard
- Coach and mentor team members to develop their skills
- Take responsibility for overseeing and coordinating each bid response to ensure it is completed to a high standard and within the required timeframe
- Organising initial meetings with key content contributors
- Create monthly management reports
- Use feedback from ITT's to inform the business of potential weaknesses in our product/service offering with a view to working with the business to improve these areas
Management of Contracts:
- Working in conjunction with Commercial, Legal and Finance, understand the outcomes required from each stakeholder and look at mechanisms to automate a more effective workflow and recording of required information
- Record all time specific contracts and create a basic pipeline for commercial use
- Work with internal stakeholders to make best use of Contract Pipeline
- Work to promote contract extensions or to influence up and coming ITT requirements
- Attend pre-tender market engagement meetings and events as necessary
Required Qualifications
- Experience in working in a commercial area
- Previous Line management experience
- Good organisational skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good team player
- Able to work well under pressure, in order to meet tight deadlines
- Proficient in the use of MS Office
- Must show excellent communication skills and take responsibility for output of team
- Proactive communication with other departments with regards to identification of potential issues/challenges
