SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:
The resource will be primarily responsible for utilizing industry knowledge and predefined selection criteria to identify and collate press releases, trade press articles and other information related to the Life Science Business of Merck KGaA Darmstadt, Germany. This information will be gathered from a variety of web-based sources and used to curate a collection of digital newsletters. The resource will be supporting the Global Strategic Intelligence (SI) team in monitoring the Life Science Tools space and providing impactful qualitative and quantitative intelligence reports to colleagues of Merck Life Sciences.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITIONThe Strategic Intelligence team is responsible for utilizing industry knowledge with predefined selection criteria, and strong technical proficiency to investigate the external competitive environment, monitor trends, track key developments, and extract and deliver critical insights to inform decisions across the Life Science business.
As the Analytics & Insights Specialist, the incumbent will drive a broad range of digitally focused projects including Tableau dashboard maintenance and development, and process automation aligned with business requirements gathered through ongoing collaboration with the broader Global Strategy and Business Development teams. The incumbent will develop innovative methods utilizing a deep understanding of data analytics to analyze, evaluate, and present findings to senior leaders in a clear and understandable format. As an inquisitive individual, use data to solve complex scientific and business-related problems.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSThe responsibilities will include, but not limited to-
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining Tableau dashboards that present a clear and accurate interpretation of data.
- Deploying and managing a company financial growth tracking dashboard tool.
- Establishing scalable, automated processes to replace existing manual processes, by employing a broad range of technologies.
- Conducting in-depth research by analyzing internal and external data, assessing business implications, and developing recommendations to inform business-critical decisions.
- Communicating insights in a clear and succinct way through impactful executive-level presentations.
- Driving multi-stakeholder data analytics projects harnessing digital tools and applying data science methods.
- Identifying, and extracting relevant articles on customers, competitors, and other industry players related to key developments such as M&A, partnerships and product launches.
- Monitoring news sources from relevant life science and pharma industries, company websites and third-party databases to curate and distribute newsletters through digital channels.
- Providing data and other supporting materials to assist the SI team in preparing executive level deliverables, including company deep dives on financial analysis, and other competitive intelligence reports.
Education:
- Bachelors’ / Masters’ degree in science, Technology along with Master’s in business administration in Healthcare Management preferable.
- Advanced proficiency in programming languages (Python, R, SQL, or similar) and demonstrated experience with machine learning projects.
Experience:
- 4+ years' experience in an analytical role, within the Life Science or pharmaceutical industries.
- Working on impactful data analytics projects in relevant industries.
Technical Skills / Competencies:
- Expertise in data science, with a proven record of using data and facts to solve complex scientific problems.
- Proficient in analytic and visualization software (Tableau, Alteryx, or similar).
- Financial literacy (interpret P&L, analyze regulatory filings, etc.) is a plus.
Behavioral Competencies:
- Proficient in high impact communication including written and verbal communications.
- Excellent time-management skills and work under minimal supervision.
- Be self-driven and exhibit curiosity to upskill and stay upto date with trending technologies.
- Ability to interact and facilitate productive discussions with the team and with key stakeholders, in a matrix organization.

This position is office based and operates from Shared Business Services office of Merck, KGaA at our Bengaluru location.
