Working Student: Forefront Innovation Analog Concept Design (f/m/div)

At a glance

In this position you focus on System-Level Analysis, Modelling, Simulation, and Optimization of Switched-Capacitor Digital-to-Analog converter MEMS Actuator Driver Architectures and Control Scheme’s in MEMS Sensors Forefront Innovation Team. MEMS miniaturization enables the integration of formerly bulky transducers into portable devices and thus extends capabilities of the electronic devices to interact with the environment and sensing the environment and world around us. Further MEMS actuator proliferation into miniaturized portable battery powered applications as wearables requires to enhance the performance of MEMS systems including actuator drivers with respect to drive efficiency, actuation voltages, and signal resolution. Job description

You can contribute as student (intern or master) to concept and analog design investigations to overcome related technological barriers when driving MEMS piezo-electric or electro dynamic micro actuators or sensors by:

  • Find solutions : You investigate and compare configurable boost converter output stage architectures
  • Analyse interdependencies : You identify and quantify system tradeoffs between drive efficiency, actuation energy, and signal quality
  • Experience circuit development : You design and optimize advanced switched-capacitor circuitry incl. device sizing
  • Systematically test solutions : You setup simulations and testbenches for evaluation and characterization of variants for specific use cases
  • Implement control : You develop, compare, and propose of switched cap control schemes and algorithms

Your Profile

  • Study field: You are currently studying in your latest semester of your Bachelor´s degree or in your Master in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Semiconductor Physics, or similar and you are interested in potentially pursuing research later in Master and Phd Thesis
  • Background: You have knowledge and passion for analog transistor level circuit or mixed-signal circuit design as switched capacitor or data, power, or other converter circuits and knowledge in semiconductor device physics and manufacturing
  • Skills: You have a hands on experience in analog or system modelling (Matlab, Simulink, Plecs …) and analog simulation tools (Cadence, Spice …)
  • Language skills: You have good English skills, written and spoken; German is a plus
Please attach the following documents to your application:
  • CV in English
  • Certificate of enrollment at university
  • Latest grades transcript (not older than 6 months)
  • High school report
Important information:
  • Working part-time: The focus is on studies. Therefore, Working Student is possible during the lecture period with a maximum of 20 hours per week.
  • Proper students (according to the German law) are welcome: You must be enrolled and the examination results or modules of your studies must not have been completed yet, so that you can still work in our team for at least 6 months. You must also not be in a semester of leave.
  • You should live close to the site: It is important for us to work with you on site and to integrate you into the team. You should therefore be able to come to the site regularly.
