Vendor Managed Inventory Planner

The role requires proactive communication with Supplier and Distributor personnel, regarding business needs and inventory performance. Efficient, courteous, and accurate verbal and written interactions are essential. The role will require the use and understanding of the Datalliance software as a service system, and any additions or changes to that service developed over time. VMI Specialists at ABB need to develop and maintain a high level of product, order processing and business knowledge on behalf of the Supplier they are servicing. It will also be necessary for them to develop and maintain a record of the Supplier procedures and business requirements in support of the VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory) function.This role will work hybrid remotely from the Memphis, TN office.

Your responsibilities

• Maintain the Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) system data and item level order points utilizing the exception management and reporting capabilities of the VMI system
• Review and launch orders per the agreed Supplier/Distributor defined day and time schedules
• Receive and respond to phone and email inquires from Supplier and Distributor in relation to the VMI service and inventory needs. Ensure that appropriate business personnel are contacted and ensure timely resolution of issues or problems
• Proactively contact Supplier or Distributor to resolve any exceptions or anomalies that are discovered in the VMI system, which cannot be resolved through Datalliance’s usual support services or require further guidance from the originator of the data
• Investigate opportunities to improve the inventory plan for a location by use of the VMI system reports and more detailed investigation including, where necessary, contact with the Supplier and/or Distributor
• Maintain a plan for regular inventory performance investigation and review, and initiate those reviews
• Create records of documenting the Suppliers and Distributor’s unique business and process rules in relation to VMI
• Continually strive to maintain current Supplier product knowledge
• Provide scheduled periodic reviews of the service and any issue, to the Supplier VMI contract and to the associated Datalliance Manager

Your background

• BA/BS in Business or Supply Chain Management discipline with minimum 2 years of experience in relevant field
• Aptitude to work effectively with suppliers and distributors by phone, e-mail, and conduct technical presentations around VMI
• Desire to analyze data and a level of comfort with the mathematics associated with inventory management calculations
• Instinct to “ask” when suspicious of an issue and the common sense to determine a simple solution given appropriate information
• Confidence to work independently but ask for assistance when needed
• Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel skills crucial, including v-look up and pivot tables, required
• Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
