The Director of Training will lead a team comprised of Training Managers and Education Specialist. This role will develop the strategy in LATAM to drive consistent commercial development training, aligned with local strategic imperatives. The Director will have responsibility for all geographical clusters and business divisions which includes 1,200 direct commercial employees in addition to the indirect sales channels across 35 countries, accounting for over $1B in revenue on an annual basis. This role is linked to the standardization efforts of the ACT – Americas Commercial Training and directly responsible for the execution of the LATAM commercial development strategy.

This role will closely align with key stakeholders on the Americas Commercial Training Regional Leadership Team and subregion functional leaders (including Commercial Operations, Clinical Training and Regional Marketing). Through close collaboration, the Director of Training will develop strategies to build the commercial capabilities and advance the development of field sellers and first-line managers to deliver on annual revenue commitments and strategic priorities.


A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

· Manage LATAM training and advanced commercial development Pan MDT

· Provide clear, strong leadership on future direction and align goals appropriately

· Establish organizational policies that positively impact regional LATAM businesses

· Drive achievement and performance without appreciable direction

· Lead the development of strategy for training and advanced commercial development

· Drive accountability and achievement for LATAM region led market business goals through direct and indirect sales channels

· Provide strategic direction which could impact financial performance, employees, or public image of the company

· Accountable for training budget to execute regional LATAM programs

· Champion innovation across the company recommending programs or projects and conceptualizing and developing new approaches in order drive effectiveness and find operational efficiencies

· Leverage tools and processes to extensively analyze complex and undefined problems, identify root causes, and then design, develop and deliver appropriate solutions for the business in LATAM

· Identify, initiate, establish and develop long term strategic relationships and alliances with key stakeholders

· Serve as principal spokesperson for Americas Commercial Training along with Commercial Development Teams across LATAM to influence operational and business decisions with executive leaders around strategic initiatives

· Demonstrate organizational agility across functions and businesses to ensure alignment and continuity, working through operational issues and divergent objectives

· Direct and control training and advanced commercial development programs for LATAM, having multiple Training Managers lead day to day operations

· Appropriately organize resources to align to regional strategic objectives for the businesses and manage and develop talent for the organization (including hiring, firing, and promotion)

· Possess advanced management and leadership knowledge to lead cross-department project teams or manage across multiple functions

· Exhibit mastery of building commercial capabilities to align with objectives and drive overall revenue

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience
  • Speak fluent English, Spanish, and Portuguese
  • Knowledge across Medtronic portfolios
  • Self-motivator and dynamic leader who can apply ingenuity and innovative thinking to define solutions to business problems
  • Ability to build cross-functional engagement
  • Ability to build effective teams
  • Ability to maintain an ethical mindset and conduct business with integrity
