THE OPPORTUNITY
This Staff Mobile Software Verification Engineer position works out of our Sylmar, CA location in the Cardiac Rhythm Management division.
Staff Mobile Software Verification Engineer leads in test design and automated test software development and execution on Android and iOS mobile applications for CRM remote care under a disciplined product development process that meets Abbott's quality and appropriate regulatory agency requirements.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Apply your expertise in mobile applications automated testing by defining test strategies, deploying innovative techniques, and leading test development and execution for CRM’s Android and iOS mobile applications.
Lead the design and development of verification and validation test procedures and test scripts.
Perform test execution – automated testing, functional testing, regression testing, usability testing, data validations, security and performance testing.
Create test documentation on product & component level (test plans, test designs, automated test scripts, summary reports).
Maintain a deep understanding of the system-level requirements and workflows to ensure the software requirements are consistent and complete.
Provide technical leadership in defining the strategy, requirements, and solutions to enhance CRM’s Mobile Software test management framework on an ongoing basis.
Participate in developing and/or enhancing tools for automated testing of CRM’s mobile applications through simulated interfaces of its endpoints.
Demonstrate a deep understanding of the dependencies with phone platforms, new versions of OS and their Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), etc. and ensuring compatibilities and compliances across them.
Demonstrate proficiency in project management leadership to manage verification activities across all phases of a program. This encompasses collaborating with cross-functional teams, harmonizing their schedules including dependencies and deliverables, and seamlessly integrating them to meet project timelines.
Create software requirements specifications for one or more new features or user stories.
Manage software requirement documentation & traceability in a requirements management tool.
Participate as a subject matter expert in discussions and reviews of test deliverables within the team.
Identify and assess test failures; perform root cause analysis and identify corrective and preventive actions to address current and future issues.
Work actively with cross-functional teams to develop testing strategies.
Participate as a key reviewer in reviews of technical deliverables from other teams, such as Mobile Software development, systems engineering, software quality, etc.
Stay abreast of the latest developments in Mobile software technologies including the Mobile Operating System (OS) updates, app store requirements, and cybersecurity and data privacy requirements.
Demonstrate familiarity with Agile principles to follow an iterative process for test development, execution, and deployments.
Ensure that all product development activities and deliverables conform to and comply with Abbott and CRM requirements and guidelines, as well as regulatory requirements such as the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and European Union Medical Device Regulations (EU-MDR).
Support all corporate and department-level initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and other regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or a related engineering field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Minimum 10 years of experience in a range of software engineering disciplines using a variety of programming, including includingJava, C#, or C++.
5 or more years of automation test development experience, preferably some years of testing within mobile applications.
Experience with Appium, JIRA, Bitbucket, GitHub, or Jenkins.
Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Strong leadership and mentorship skills, with a proven track record of leading and mentoring junior engineers.
Analytical and strategic thinking, problem-solving, time management and sound judgment.
Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
Ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
Strong organizational and follow-up skills and attention to detail.

The base pay for this position is $109,300.00 – $218,500.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
