Our Digital R&D (DRD) team is responsible for innovative computer-aided solutions for chemical product and application development at Covestro. DRD integrates expertise in materials simulation and computational chemistry as well as competencies in laboratory automation, R&D data science, quantum computing and high performance computing (HPC).
With passion and deep technical expertise, we develop software to map complex R&D processes and connect modern laboratory infrastructure.
You can make a difference with us:
You will work with our software architects (m/f/d) in the development of solid and standardized software architecture specifications, especially when backend technologies are involved
Together with the team, you will be involved in various software development processes such as maintaining a shared code repository, development in a multi-system landscape, release management, (automated) testing, gradual transition to the operations phase (DevOps). Agile software development activities are also part of your tasks.
You are a thought leader in the conceptualization of software. This includes coordinating with project participants from business or IT or translating business requirements into data models and algorithms
Software development, including writing requirements documents, source code and documentation, as well as testing, roll-out, bug-fixing and operations is part of your repertoire
You interact with end users when recording requirements, product reviews, tests or processing error messages
You will also make an active contribution to Covestro's internal developer community ("AppMakers Guild"), e.g. by organizing guild activities, giving presentations, or participating in events
WHAT YOU OFFER
What counts for us is your personality! You are like us: curious, courageous and colorful. You want to change things and drive our vision - the fully circular economy - forward together with us.
You have a university degree or completed training in the fields of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, technology (STEM) or similar, as well as several years of professional experience relevant to the role
The development of web applications with Java Spring Boot as a backend framework is nobrainer for you and you are familiar with SQL database technologies and with AWS as a cloud provider
To round off your profile, fluent English skills are a must have, German would be beneficial
