The Senior Project Lead Engineer assumes a pivotal role as the technical lead overseeing all engineering aspects of Traction Power System projects within the Railway sector, specifically focusing on DC product expertise within the Electrification Distribution Solution division. Situated in Switzerland, this global position involves spearheading and coordinating engineering teams in projects of moderate complexity, while actively disseminating technical knowledge and promoting best practices. Within this international scope, your responsibility will be to champion excellence by ensuring the streamlined execution of engineering activities within the team, aligning them meticulously with expectations, specifications, industry standards, and stringent safety requirements. Your leadership will play a crucial role in fostering a culture of efficiency and precision throughout the project lifecycle.

Your responsibilities

• Lead and coach your team to ensure optimal operational performance, in terms of technical solution, quality, timeliness, resource use, cost and design-for-safety as well as identifying and managing risks
• Collaborate closely with clients to shape and deliver impactful solutions, using feedback as a driving force for continuous improvement.
• Lead and nurture the engineering team as the team leader, fostering both team and career development.
• Develop and build your team to adapt to business changes in terms of scope, volume and competency requirements
• Develop and review standard processes, tools, and techniques, ensuring engineering activities align seamlessly with safety regulations and contractual requirements.
• Oversee the efficient execution of all projects within the engineering team through an established design review and approval process.
• Assist project managers in comprehensive risk and opportunity assessments, proactively implementing improvement and mitigation actions for project success.
• Offer crucial technical insights, prepare engineering cost breakdowns, engineering proposals, coordinate essential documentation and specification reviews, and support technical and commercial risk analyses during tendering and project execution phases.
• Support product development within ABB based on expertise and experience on relevant products within scope.
• Resolve complex technical issues, whether remotely or on-site, in a global capacity, with an anticipated 25% travel commitment for essential project phases such as kickoffs, commissioning, and factory acceptance tests.

Your background

• Hold a bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering or a related field, validating your academic prowess.
• Bring to the table a robust experience in Traction Power Projects, DC Systems within the Railway industry, showcasing your expertise as a Senior Project Lead Engineer or Engineering Team Leader.
• Showcase your comprehensive knowledge of engineering processes encompassing Substation Conceptual and Detailed Design, Selectivity Studies, Protection and Coordination Studies, System Studies, RAMS, EMI/EMC, with engineering tools and software such as E-Plan, Solid Works, and NEPLAN and others.
• Exhibit a steadfast commitment to safety, with a sharp focus on adhering to workplace safety guidelines.
• Demonstrate your adept leadership and management skills, underlined by a collaborative and solution-focused approach that ensures project and team success.
• Proficiency in English is required, German and French would be advantageous.
