Due to period of exciting growth across the AXA Commercial branches, we have an opportunity for a New Business, Senior Fleet Underwriter to join our Ipswich team.

The role encompasses many opportunities to contribute to the development and success of the branch account, not just from a growth and profitability perspective but driving service excellence to our customers. The team ensure close collaboration is supported internally across the teams to be set up for success, as well as engaging and building key relationships with the brokers and panel aligned business developers.

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Underwriting complex larger fleet risks and other commercial motor classes
  • Delivering planned financial results through the effective underwriting of cases
  • Contributing to loss ratio control by effectively adhering to branch underwriting controls and ensuring your colleagues do the same
  • Building effective trading relationships with Brokers through trading activity - being recognised as a positive trading partner
  • Identifying poorly performing accounts and investigating reasons for lack of conversion, retention &/or rate increase
  • Contributing to the improvement of profitability by implementing actions agreed with brokers to improve account performance
  • Supporting with the development of colleagues by coaching and acting as a reference point - assisting in decision making within empowerment
     

Your Profile
  • Experience of working on larger fleet cases 
  • Exposure to the UK General Insurance market is essential, including existing trading relationships specifically across the East Anglia region
  • Progress towards CII qualification - preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong trading capability – commercial awareness, negotiation skills, ability to build strong broker relationships
  • Pragmatic decision making with good analytical and numerical reasoning skills
  • Proven experience in decision making on a wide range of underwriting scenarios within a Commercial environment is desirable
  • Sound understanding of commercial lines insurance products, industry knowledge and regulatory framework
  • Experience of working in teams and a successful record of delivering results

This position has been defined as an Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) role under the IDD regime which means that in addition to pre-employment screening checks, the successful candidate will be subject to background screening every 4 years with an annual declaration in interim years.
