The Global Corporate Responsibility - Responsible Business team at EY brings to life the EY ESG and Sustainability Strategy.  The Responsible Business team works with stakeholders across the organization to implement EY’s sustainability policies, practices and non-financial reporting.  The team is part of the broader Global Corporate Responsibility function focused on driving sustainable, inclusive growth.


The opportunity

 

The Environmental Sustainability Strategy and Operations leader will drive a collaborative approach, focused on mitigating EY’s environmental impact – including reducing our carbon footprint, contributing to nature-positive activities, and assessing future environmental topics.

 

The Environmental Sustainability Strategy and Operations leader will work across many functions at EY (including Real Estate, Procurement, Finance, Talent, Risk Management, and others) to bring to life a principles-based environmental ambition, strategy, metrics, governance, and management.  The role will work closely with the Non-Financial Reporting Hub to deliver on required environmental reporting requirements.  

 

The role is open to candidates in the Americas and Europe time-zones.

 

Your key responsibilities

 

  • Lead the development and continual improvement of an Environmental Sustainability Strategy to drive transformation (including Scope 3, nature and biodiversity, value chain impact, and other material topics)
  • Collaborate across EY with leaders to assess impact, establish goals, and evaluate results
  • Identify sustainability projects; identify risks and work with functions to take appropriate mitigation measures
  • Team with the Non-Financial Reporting Hub to further develop and coordinate transparent Environmental Sustainability reporting and disclosure strategy (e.g. regulatory, voluntary, CDP, TCFD, TNFD, annual reporting)
  • Collaborate closely with EY client serving sustainability teams to apply best practices, latest trends, and new solutions
  • Pursue opportunities to increase EY’s Environmental Sustainability credentials and ratings
  • Collaborate across functions on the governance, operationalization, and implementation of sustainability projects
  • Build business cases for stakeholder socialization and decision-making
  • Coordinate the annual offsets strategy process, seeking buy-in and consultation across the organization
  • Liaise externally with industry bodies and other institutions in the ecosystem
  • Present to senior leadership on a regular basis on our status and progress 


Skills and attributes for success

 

  • Technical knowledge and deep understanding of sustainability frameworks
  • Experience with data-driven program design and execution for large, multi-national organization(s)
  • A highly motivated, self-starter, results-oriented with an ability to work on multiple deliverables at the same time and drive projects to completion with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Able to execute in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Creative problem solver, comfortable operating in ambiguous situations and navigating complexities
  • Demonstrate a passion for and understanding of the dynamic ESG landscape  .
  • Innovative thinker with a strong interest in developing new ideas and the confidence to champion new ways of working with senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrate ability to influence and build collaborative relationships with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders 

 

To qualify for the role you must have 

 

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience, with dedicated experience in Environmental Sustainability
  • Strong understanding of the ESG landscape, including ESG frameworks, regulations, trends, and best practices
  • Experience engaging, influencing and building collaborative relationships with senior stakeholders
  • Flexibility to travel globally, pending business need

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

 

  • Experience working across geographies and cultures (preferred)
  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

What we offer
 
The compensation ranges below are provided in order to comply with United States pay transparency laws. Other geographies will follow their local salary guidelines, which may not be a direct conversion of published US salary range/s. We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business.  The salary range for this job in most geographic locations in the US is $125,900 to $235,500. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $151,100 to $267,600.  Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.  In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
