The Opportunity
This position works out of our Westford, MA location in the AVD division.
Abbott Vascular provides innovative, minimally invasive, and cost-effective products for treatment of vascular disease.
Designs and develops software test procedures for verification testing of new and existing medical device products. Investigates and resolves R&D issues involving software, test equipment, and hardware. Applies engineering and scientific principles to the evaluation and solution of technical problems. Exercises technical judgment in planning, organizing, performing, coordinating and/or directing engineering work. Performs engineering studies. Remains abreast of and consults on technical advancements. Identifies and routinely uses the most effective, cost efficient and best practices to execute processes; continually evaluates their effectiveness and appropriateness.
What You’ll Work On
- Design and develop test plans and test cases to verify new products and improve existing ones.
- Lead software integration teams that support the testing of software during software development.
- Provide technical support and guidance to other functions such as Marketing and Field Service as needed.
- Generates project plans and documents relative to the resolution of problems and/or the implementation of new software.
- Prepare and submit reports on progress and status of all testing procedures.
- Analyze and troubleshoot software and test issues.
- Identifies and resolves discrepancies between new design test requirements and test system capabilities.
- Provide technical support and leadership to technicians for various testing activities.
- Ability to work unsupervised and manage tasks.
- Gain a detailed understanding of overall schedule, manage time and task within schedule.
- Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
- Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in medical devices or other similar related field
- 3 years of related work experience with a basic understanding of specified functional area, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Previous experience working with Medical Devices, software testing experienceis required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Very good documentation skills, need to create test plan and test report.
- Solid computer skills, prefer some experience in MATLAB and Python.
- Very good on attention to details
- Excellent organization skills
- Quick learner
- Some experience with software testing
- Some knowledge and working experience on medical device software algorithms

The base pay for this position is $57,300.00 – $114,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
