Do you want to write Python software for complex devices that operate in the challenging environment of an operating room? Do you enjoy working with a dynamic team with a technically diverse skill set? Is the challenge of making software in the field reliable and maintainable something that excites you?

Digital Surgery creates products to allow surgical teams to securely record and analyses their performance. As a Senior Python Engineer on the Application team, you’ll be helping expand the feature-set of our existing devices while ensuring the codebase is maintainable, allowing us to continue to deliver the next generation of surgical technology.

A Day in the Life

• Work within our highly technically diverse multidisciplinary teams (application software, embedded, computer vision, cloud platform, etc.).
• Contribute to the core application software by developing enhancements for our existing intra-operative devices, taking ownership of the maintainability and reliability of the application software in our existing intra-operative devices and helping develop the software stack for our next generation intra-operative devices.
• Set the direction/architecture of the core application software.
• Maintain and enhance methods for device monitoring and cloud connectivity.
• Investigate, debug, and resolve issues reported from testing and support.
• Participate in the relevant security and regulatory compliance processes.
• Develop robust and secure-by-design software fit for a medical-grade system.

Must Haves

• Excellent Python programming
• Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux environments
• Experience with systems engineering and design principles
• Experience working with deployed hardware systems and remote device management
• Flexible - you can independently solve problems as they arise, but are comfortable asking for help when you need it
• Comfortable with complexity – being able to think through consequences of changes in a highly interconnected ecosystem over varied use environments
• A high level of code craftsmanship and focus on quality

Nice to Haves

• Good Go programming skills
• Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Fundamentals of database management
• Understanding of core security concepts
• Experience with software development for medical products or other safety-critical applications
