We’re seeking a Pension Actuarial Trainee to join the Pension Strategy Team here at AXA. You’ll support in managing the AXA UK and Ireland pension scheme funding trajectory, predominately focusing on the deployment of the asset strategy. You’ll contribute to appropriate projects, assist in the provision of holistic advice to company and Trustee considering implications on IFRS balance sheet and lead on liability modelling.

You'll work at least 40% of your week away from home, either at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events. 

What you’ll be doing:  

  • Develop and lead monthly valuations, including assisting with IFRS accounting process at the year end and half-year periods.
  • Calculate the economic capital associated with the pension scheme on a regular basis (STEC), with appropriate reporting to stakeholders and committees.
  • Contribute to the development of innovation of modelling of liabilities for both AXA UK and Ireland.
  • Update monthly Cash flow profiles including Liabilities and Assets, ensuring they follow the Interest rate and Inflation hedge ratio level.
  • Manage the implementation of liability de-risking strategies in the most effective way possible, ensuring compliance with pension scheme regulations.
  • Assist in the delivery of accurate and timely reporting and MI for the AXA UK Board, the AXA UK Executive Committee, AXA UK Investment Committee, AXA UK Risk Committee, AXA Group and other third parties with relevant analysis.

Your Profile

What we’re looking for:  

  • Trainee actuary or equivalent with experience in risk management, capital reporting or ALM modelling.
  • Ability to deliver information to a range of stakeholders.
  • Relevant product and industry knowledge such as pensions, investment, and risk management.
  • Knowledge of risk quantification tools and techniques including stress and scenario testing.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and to work well under time pressure.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Good understanding and use Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Knowledge of market tools such as Bloomberg, UBS delta would be beneficial.

As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom. 

This position has been defined as an Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) role under the IDD regime which means that in addition to pre-employment screening checks, the successful candidate will be subject to background screening every 4 years with an annual declaration in interim years.
