TheOpportunity:
Our Diagnostics business currently has an opportunity for the role of PCB Layout Designerfor our Irving, TX location. The primary function of this position is to work within a team environment to design and draft complex electronic PCB’s layouts and drawings. The qualified must be able to work in a fast-paced team environment and be responsible for schedules and deadlines.
What You’ll Work On:
- Create footprints per supplier datasheets and IPC standards.
- Maintain and support Abbott eCAD Library.
- Layout of complex mixed-signal, mixed technology, high-density PCB designs.
- Provide full documentation for fabrication and assembly.
- Understanding pin mapping assignments in complex part symbols.
- Layout for placement and circuitry routing of PCBs for optimal electrical, EMI, thermal, and structural performance. Understanding of design rules constraint management and parasitic analysis.
- Use 3rd party tools to perform Design Rule Checks and insertion of test probes.
- Interface with Vendors and Suppliers to import and export data for fabrication of bare boards and installation of electronic and mechanical components.
- Collaborate with Electrical, Mechanical, Component, and Supplier Engineering Teams to determine optimum placement of components.
- Interface with Operations and Document Control to release drawings.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in PCB Layout
- At least six months of relevant design and manufacturing work experience as related to medical devices
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and evaluate technologically complex devices.
- Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
- Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
- Strong verbal and written communication with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
- Multitasks prioritizes and meets deadlines in a timely manner.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
- Ability to travel approximately 5%, including internationally.
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Cadence Concept HDL and Allegro schematic and board layout tools OR similar experience within Altium toolsets
- Understanding of ICB-7531, IPC-6011, IPC-6012, and other related IPC standards.
- Understanding knowledge of Geometric Tolerances, ANSI Y14.5.
- Experience using Microsoft Office tools.
- Familiarity with PLM systems such as Siemens Team Center.
- Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model is preferred.

The base pay for this position is $52,000.00 – $104,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
