WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Frontline Leader (Supervisor), Material Control should have a general knowledge of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and understand site complexity.  Partner with Division to develop a production schedule that aligns with both site capabilities and Division. Initiate, manage, and make decisions which impact production scheduling. Responsible for procurement of all commodities and raw materials required to meet the manufacturing schedule. Must possess a thorough understanding of what drives product costs, profitability within the shift, and department, while operating within budget with a focus on margin, material utilization and Cost Improvement Program (CIP) goals.  Understand financial statements, key performance measures, and provide input for all line budgetary decisions. Promote and Drive continuous improvement programs utilizing common problem solving tools and methodologies in processes and procedures within the shift/ operating line/ department for root cause analysis and resolution of issues. Actively plan and organize the day to day manufacturing operations and schedules. The Front Line Leader I will initially be learning through the direct coaching of management the leadership requirements to become competent in delivering organizational results in all key performance areas.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.

Focus is on day to day operations, with short term focus based on meeting requirements that are tactical versus strategic. 

Communicates to line personnel daily while maintaining a constant line presence.

Coordinates activities related to shift starts and changes.

Model and promote organizational values by providing effective leadership, direction, development and support to the team. Drive a culture of engagement through the team and department.

Directly supervises team and participates in staffing activities.

Assure team members are trained and understand duties, responsibilities, and performance against established expectations.

Provide timely coaching, counseling and feedback. 

Develop all line personnel by securing appropriate training, providing mentoring and assigning progressively challenging stretch responsibilities within the scope of the team and department accountabilities.

Model and promote a thorough understanding of what drives product costs, profitability, and cash flow within the Material Operation, while operating within fiscal constraints, material utilization and CIP goals.

Lead efforts required to deliver all productivity performance metrics, and understanding the productivity drivers that impact positive financial performance.

Tracking and trending of KPI's including implementation of corrective actions.

Assist Sr. Frontline Leader in the development of strategic and tactical goal development for the Material Control team that aligns with business site strategies.

Lead the development of goal setting for the team and individuals on the team.

Establish a communications framework that assures timely and relevant transfer of information to and from all levels and functional areas of the organization.

Ensure compliance with all HR policies and procedures.

Understand and effectively use the rewards and recognition programs.

Promote positive employee relations by maintaining a high profile presence on the floor, direct engagement with employees, regular open communications and encouraging knowledge sharing and open exchange of ideas. 

Make and communicate decisions that are appropriate for level of accountability

Communicates with other departments and functions as needed in support of meeting operational objectives.

Active participation in team and department projects including responsibility for execution of assigned actions.

Accountability / Scope/Budget:

Accountable for scheduling of raw materials and production supplies in a timely manner to meet production requirements while minimizing in-plant inventories. Accountable for scheduling of all plant production lines to assure that the Division case counts by product are met. Accountable to ensure that the plant meets production volume as throughput as prescribed in the yearly production plan by leading all scheduling and receiving activities.

Accountable for the safe and accurate receiving and storage of raw materials and production supplies.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING:

Bachelor’s degree in business, science, food technology, technical degree. Two to four years of experience in a regulated industry, with preference being for food, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, cosmetics, etc. preferred.

Background:

This position requires of knowledge of business and manufacturing principles, techniques and practices to give guidance to the Plant Material Control function. 

This person must have the knowledge and experience to handle projects and issues, and versed in methods to improve operational efficiencies.

The base pay for this position is $57,300.00 – $114,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
