Insurance Risk Specialist

As the Insurance Risk Specialist, you will be part of the CCO Risk Team and responsible for overseeing global risk activities broadly for Insurance Products and Programs. These responsibilities include effective risk management, ensuring high quality Insurance Program Reviews, compliance with relevant DLL and Rabobank policies, and compliance with relevant regulations, on a second line of responsibility. You will be a member and serve as Secretary of the PO Insurance Risk Committee (“PO Insurance RC”).

As part of the PO Insurance RC, this role facilitates and challenges the development, updating and implementation of an Insurance Product risk strategy, including policies and procedures, ensuring a sound Insurance Risk culture and monitoring the risk management activities of DLL Countries and the Global Product Overlay Insurance in order to ensure high quality, effective and efficient risk management practices to safeguard DLL’s business.

Day to day:

  • Ensure that the PO Insurance RC is run smoothly and effectively.
  • Provide high-quality reporting to the PO Insurance Risk Committee, Global Risk Committee, Product Approval and Review Committee (“PARC”) and Rabobank as required.
  • Provide training to all relevant stakeholders on the requirements of the Global Standard on Insurance Product Risk (PO Insurance Risk Standard).
  • Work closely with, monitor, and challenge when appropriate the 1LOR DLL Countries and PO Insurance Functions to ensure that there is effective risk management, including timely submission of Insurance Program Reviews.
  • Assess external and industry developments (including regulatory) to identify emerging/material Insurance Risks
  • Maintain and monitor compliance with the Insurance Risk Standards, Policies, and Procedures to ensure strong risk governance. Support the 1LoR to come up with action plans to address any gaps.
  • Lead and/or participate in projects initiated by the global risk and insurance department.
  • Regularly advise senior management regarding risks, appropriate controls, remediation, actions and status thereof. Pro-actively propose and implement applicable Insurance Risk related improvement plans.
  • Plan, organize, monitor and report on Insurance Risk Function, risk and control activities, continuously liaising with and between DLL countries, management and Group Functions.
  • Monitor, control and check all Insurance risk and control activities in compliance with risk policies and regulation, resolve potential risk reporting issues.
  • Facilitate effective and efficient Insurance Risk related findings and actions via management process, monitor successful implementation of resulting action plans, and ensure quality control regarding operational risk incident reporting & finding and action management.
  • Ensure corrective actions are initiated timely and lessons learned are embedded in applicable areas in the organization.

Essentials:

  • Bachelor degree, MBA a plus
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in the financial industry in insurance and/or credit, risk management or compliance roles
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills
  • Quality driven and results orientated.
  • Highly adaptable.
  • Proactive and a self-starter.
  • Strongly collaborative. Displays excellent ability to build internal and external relationships across a variety of levels, countries, and cultures.
  • Proven implementation power
  • Experience working in multi-cultural and international environment is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills (speaking and writing) in English
