About the team and the role:
eBay is hiring a team of luxury authenticators based in Moonachie, New Jersey. The right candidates will have experience detecting counterfeits and know the indicators to confirm an item’s authenticity. While a multi-brand background is preferred, brand specialists will be considered. Alternatively, those with a solid background in luxury retail or resale will be considered if they can demonstrate an expert level of product/brand knowledge.
What you will accomplish:
Evaluate products from major fashion brands to ensure their authenticity
Perform an inspection to confirm the item’s description and condition are consistent
Report counterfeit items with succinct and specific findings
Stay well-versed on current brand trends & developments
Achieve quality metrics and productivity goals daily
Collaborate with colleagues to problem solve difficult authentication circumstances
Participate in mandatory regular training and development programs
Proactively communicate with managers about daily activities and obstacles
Perform item quality checks along with authentication
Willingness to work in a warehouse environment
Assist with packing and receiving tasks as assigned by your manager
What you will bring:
2-5+ years of prior luxury handbag and apparel authentication experience
Proficient in marquee luxury brands such as Hermes, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Balenciaga, Prada, etc.
You are a fashion expert and have a strong sense of the category
Analytical and problem-solving skills ability to research and address concerns
Flexibility in shifting category work-flows and evolving responsibilities
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
Ability to work autonomously
Capacity to work on your feet for several hours & lift 30 lbs as needed.
Knowledge of standard operating systems, word processing, spreadsheets, Slack, etc.
