About the job

The Documentation Program Manager plays a critical role in making Red Hat's product documentation a competitive differentiator. In this role, you will lead the creation and implementation of a project plan, define work schedules, and are responsible for the overall documentation backlog of work. As a Documentation Program Manager, you will work with the functional program, Content Services teams, and customer experience groups to ensure that work commitments are aligned with program priorities and balanced against resource capacity.

What you will do

  • Lead documentation projects in an open way that inspires confidence. Demonstrate negotiation, leadership and influencing capabilities
  • Reviews high-level development scoping information and determines initial resource requirements to support initiatives
  • Assess the audience for your program deliverables and presentations and communicate clearly, concisely, confidently and effectively in written and verbal communications
  • Demonstrate complex problem solving skills in resolving cross-functional issues within the program and documentation teams and negotiation
  • Understand the impact of content decisions and strategy, not just within Customer Content Services but also to areas across Red Hat, like Support Delivery
  • Determine writing schedules based on resource availability of the writing teams and the prioritization of requirements by the content strategist
  • Resolve blockers and solve other problems that arise during content development to ensure writing is completed on schedule
  • Report on project and program health and clearly communicate to stakeholders, leaders, and content teams
  • Document workflows and processes and solicit feedback directly from those impacted.
  • Analyze program and project trends using live metrics and retrospectives

What you will bring

  • Experience with the software development lifecycle, including an understanding of the customer lifecycle and knowledge of different content development and publishing methodologies, tools, and defect-tracking systems
  • Experience leveraging a work tracking system to create, manage, and report project status; familiarity with version control systems
    Demonstrated experience with Agile and rapid iteration releases.
  • Experience working with diverse sets of stakeholders to solve complex problems
  • Familiarity with structured, topic-based authoring, information architecture
  • Ability to inspire others irrespective of their job title
  • Demonstrated success taking accountability for project execution and completion
  • Project management certification such as Certified Scrum Master, PRINCE2 or PMBOK considered a plus
