Buildings Control Systems Engineer

We currently have a requirement for a Building Controls Systems Engineer to join us and work with our specialist Building Controls team in our Building Engineering group in our Dublin office. This is a permanent role and offers excellent prospects for career development.

We are a group of over 100 multi-disciplinary engineers working in a friendly and diverse office environment on a wide, interesting and challenging range of projects across all sectors including commercial, industrial, healthcare, data centres, retail, leisure and educational. You will work in the controls team on a variety of projects designing the controls systems on projects through all stages from initial brief through scheme & detailed design to installation and commissioning support. This is a permanent role and offers excellent prospects for career development.

The successful candidate will be a qualified engineer with 3+ years post-qualification experience in buildings Control Systems design looking to further their career within a leading-edge consultancy on a variety of projects. Our global and local teams continue to lead the market in terms of our focus and continued innovation around smart buildings, sustainability (net-zero, embodied carbon, circular economy) and digital (smart, BIM).

Your Responsibilities:

  • Design BMS/Building Controls systems to optimize building performance and streamline building management.
  • Work closely with disciplines like Mechanical, Electrical, ICT, Smart Buildings, Digital, etc.
  • Ensure seamless integration of Building Control Systems into overall building design.
  • Conduct design studies and produce conceptual design reports.
  • Prepare contract documentation, specifications, and drawings.
  • Ensure alignment with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with the broader design team: architects, engineers of all disciplines, quantity surveyors, etc.
  • Ensure a cohesive design approach.
  • Ensure all designs and documents meet the highest standards of excellence.
  • Undertake surveys and site inspections.
  • Inform the design process and ensure adherence to plans.
  • Witness controls systems commissioning on projects to ensure proper execution and alignment with design.

Your Education/Profile:

  • A bachelor's degree in Controls, Building Services, Mechanical, or Electrical Services Engineering.
  • Actively working towards or interested in achieving Chartered Engineer status.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing Building Control Systems (often referred to as BMS, BAS, or HVAC Controls)
  • Familiarity with the latest standards and regulations relevant to Building Control Systems.
  • Proficiency in software tools commonly used in the Building Controls sector.
