Principal Scientist / Manager Pilot, Innovation and Excellence (m/f/x)
RoleThe principal scientist is responsible for the investigation of new process concepts and technologies within the PIE team in Jülich. Furthermore, the candidate is responsible for media development within the PIE team to develop in-house media and feeds. This position will support laboratory work in close collaboration with other scientists and technicians, also at the Reykjavik site. The candidate will perform upstream experiments with various equipment, process and document the data and will be assigned as a manger to technical staff.Key responsibilities:
- Work with Head of PIE Juelich to design and execute successful media/feed screening and optimization projects
- Be team lead and advocate for DoE experimental design, setup and training
- Manage and provide continuous training and support to direct reports
- Setup team meetings as required
- Review team performance and report out to Head of media development
- Independent planning and execution of experimental work according to study plans
- Ensure media development team work according to Alvotech SOPs
- Data analysis, compilation, and presentation in group meetings
- Advise Head of media development of all staffing/recruiting resources needed
- Ensure that all written reports for media development team are completed on time
- Write and review standard operating procedures (SOPs), execution of equipment (re-) qualifications, handling of deviations, CAPAs and change controls.
- Preferably PhD but at minimum a master degree in a relevant scientific discipline
- Min. 5 years of scientific or industry experience in a relevant discipline (e.g. Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry)
- Strong background in cell culture metabolism
- Represent Alvotech at scientific forums and work cross functionally with appropriate internal teams to collate internal data and develop scientific presentations/posters
- Modify and improve current in-house cell culture media formulations
- Willingness to travel abroad (e.g. Iceland) for training or meetings
- Excellent problem-solving, time management and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible in a changing and dynamic work environment
- Works in a collaborative, constructive and efficient manner with colleagues across the organization
