Mission and position
We would like to welcome you in joining SGR Germany, one of the 8 transversal R&D centers of the Saint-Gobain group. In Saint-Gobain we want to shape the future of materials for construction, mobility, life science…
- Come help us in our mission to provide solutions for making the world a better home and taking a big part in the ecological transition.
In this position, you would join an analytical laboratory within the R&D center dedicated to chemical analysis, both organic and anorganic. In our lab, we are equipped with several analytic techniques from thermal analysis to infrared spectroscopy or chromatography or ICP-OES and so much more. All these machines could be in your hands for the coming times.
- You would provide for our customers consultancy in analytics helping them to decide what to do with their samples.
- You will carry out all discussed measurements, interpret the results and write analytical reports.
- In addition, we could need you to develop new analytical methods and over your months in our lab, you will develop a deep understanding and interpretation of our customers’ products and processes.
All this within international projects and/or for production sites with the possibility to network within the whole Saint-Gobain group. We are a team of German and French speaking colleagues, who share our passion for analytics, a high curiosity and our love for a good laugh and nice cookies/cakes/coffee/beer.
The ideal profile
You still wonder if you are the right fit for us?
- For sure, your Master/engineer degree in Materials sciences, physics, chemistry or a similar curriculum is a must have.
- We appreciate a first experience with at least one analytical method (FTIR, GC-MS, ICP-OES, TGA, DSC) but the willingness and curiosity to learn goes above it.
- At SGR Germany, you can work in English.
- We recommend you have some German knowledge as some of our customers are not fluent in English. Here again, the motivation to learn and make some progress is more essential and we are happy to participate in any German lessons’ fees.
- Overall, you will work a lot with Office, the machines software and programing knowledge is an advantage.
- You will have to “get your hands dirty” with every imaginable sample size which for sure includes very small samples, that you will have to manage with high dexterity.
Most importantly, if you are curious, passionate about understanding things and a team player, you are perfect to integrate our lab. We hope that you can show some patience if sometimes the machines tend to have a will of their own.
