Short (hours, days or a handful of weeks) engagements mean an exciting, fast-paced set of conversations where you will uplevel your people and process management skills while sharpening your storytelling capacities. What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
Helping clients to define and plan prioritized program outcomes, measured goals and iterative “get started” plans that create and build momentum
Facilitating workshops, using Event Storming, Value Stream Mapping, OKRs, and various other specialized techniques that elicit understanding of existing application portfolios, systems, organizations, business flows and/or related IT processes
Establishing effective communications and collaboration between the client, our service delivery teams, delivery leadership, and account teams to ensure alignment and successful expectation management
Managing risk, budget, and dependencies, driving staffing demand, handling escalations and planning interventions to improve engagement health when necessary, and continuously measuring appropriate metrics for success
Creating documentation, presentations and other customer-facing assets that accomplish intended project objectives
Close collaboration with clients and other VMware teams, based on project backlog
Support enablement of clients around the principles and practices we apply to lean program management and software delivery
Contributing back to the VMware team through mentorship, giving talks, and experience reports

Where is this role located?
Today the job is fully remote, and it’s hard to accurately predict what the future may hold.
Our projects are short - from a few hours to six weeks (at most) and we prioritize staffing based on project needs, skill, and location. We believe the fastest way to build customer rapport and authentic relationships is in person. When we kickoff a project in person, working remotely with “new friends” is much easier, leading to happier and more productive remote days. Once the pandemic is behind us, we expect this mode of occasional travel (10-30% overall) to start and close a project will be commonplace. Having flexibility to accommodate this reality is important.
