Software Engineering Scientist (d/f/m)

Airbus Central R&T (CRT) is the cross-divisional research & technology organization aimed at preparing the company's long-term technological capabilities. CRT is pioneering the future of aerospace by exploring and developing new ambitious technologies of maximum potential impact for Airbus products and services.

Within Airbus Central R&T, the Virtual Product Engineering domain is advancing digital modelling, simulation and integration technologies to transform business performance for our products, systems and operations in the areas of Systems & Software Engineering, Modelling & Applied Mathematics and Human Focused Technologies.

To strengthen our Virtual Product Engineering (1XRV) research team, we are looking for an enthusiastic, resourceful and innovative engineer to join as a software engineering scientist (d/m/f).

This role is also available with reduced weekly hours and an adapted scope of tasks.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • actively contribute to the research projects within their field and understand the value that they can deliver to future products,
  • identify opportunities for internal and external engagement based on developments within their field,
  • support stakeholder engagement and effectively communicate project outcomes to ensure technology transfer and knowledge retention in their field,
  • understand the impact of their activity within the scope of the Group Technology Roadmaps and develop their research community,
  • ensure all research conducted and intellectual property generated is properly protected Priority will be given to employees whose position is impacted by a workforce adaptation initiative.

Technology Breakthrough:

The candidate should have a strong technical background in the Software Engineering and be able to demonstrate a track record of experience within an academic or commercial environment. They would possess a good knowledge of the State of the Art in Software Engineering and understand how this can influence the technical needs for future product generations.

Project Management: all CRT staff will be expected to possess basic project management methods and tools to ensure their understanding and respe ct of project objectives, goals and timescales.

Engagement: candidates should demonstrate enthusiasm and proactivity, have the ability to work as part of a complex and diverse team with the willingness and desire to build a strong personal network to support the team's ability to achieve objectives in the most efficient manner.

General Management: with good communication skills, the candidate will demonstrate the ability to influence and transmit knowledge into the stakeholder community. They will have experience of ensuring research is conducted in a manner that is compliant with company procedures and that knowledge generated is protected.

Desired skills and qualifications

  • You are educated to a Bachelor or Master Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Computer science, Informatique or similar studies
  • You have already proven experiences in one or more of the following fields: Model-based and formal techniques for Systems and Software engineering (e.g. SysML/UML, ontologies, hybrid modeling)Formal analysis (e.g. model checking, static analysis, theorem proving)
  • You have already done integration of Artificial Intelligence components into Software Engineering (e.g. runtime verification, implicit programming)
  • You have built on a solid background of Computer Science and/or Engineering and will aim to develop and prototype new applications within a potentially safety critical environment.
  • You should have an ability to assess breakthroughs in this field (e.g. self-adaptive systems) with a good knowledge of commercial and open source methods and tools.
  • You have a good knowledge of Python, Java, C/C++
  • You have good interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills
  • You speak English to negotiation level; (German, French and Spanish would be a plus)
