St. George’s School seeks a well-qualified teacher of Spanish to work across our secondary school, to start in August 2023 or sooner if available.
The School
Serving the international community in Cologne for almost 30 years, St. George’s School combines an enriching curriculum with family orientated care. The school has grown from small beginnings into a thriving community of approximately 800 pupils, aged from 2-18 and representing more than 40 nationalities.
The National Curriculum is taught throughout the school, and we offer the IB Diploma in our Sixth form.

The Location
Germany’s fourth largest city, Cologne is a dynamic and vibrant cultural centre, with a large and diverse international community. Situated in the heart of Europe, Cologne offers a high standard of living, as well as numerous opportunities for travel and cultural discovery.
Cologne-Bonn airport is located only 20km from the school, with many daily flights to the UK, and a high speed rail service connects Cologne to London, via Brussels.
The Role
We are seeking to appoint a qualified Spanish Teacher to work within our team of secondary teachers to start in August 2023 or sooner if available.
The successful applicant will be a dynamic teacher with experience of enabling pupils to achieve their potential. We are looking for the right balance between experience, enthusiasm and a passion for teaching that will inspire our pupils.
The Modern Foreign Languages faculty promotes an enthusiasm for literature, language learning and an awareness of the importance of language skills within the modern world. Many pupils are bi- or trilingual and we aim to build on pupils’ linguistic abilities to develop confidence of expression in Spanish. Pupils learn Spanish from Year 5 as part of our Primary School. It is taught as a third language in Middle School, following on from the skills learnt in both German and English. French is offered as an option at both iGCSE and IB diploma level. Spanish is a popular option at IGCSE and in the IB Diploma, and attain consistently high examinations results.
Familiarity with the British education system is a prerequisite. Experience of teaching the IB Diploma is highly desirable.
Please note that a teaching degree or post-graduate diploma (B.Ed, M.Ed, PGCE or equivalent) is required for this role. Unqualified teachers, or those only holding TEFL or CELTA qualifications, will not be considered.
