Regional Computing Center (RRZK)

The Regional Computing Center (RRZK) is a central institution of the University of Cologne, which as a service and competence center, strives for technical and scientific cooperation on a state, federal as well as international level. Cologne Competence Center for Research Data Management (C3RDM, http://fdm.uni-koeln.de) is a central operating unit of the University of Cologne under the direction of the three partner institutions the Division 7 Research Management, the City and University Library, and the RRZK. The position is within the DFG-funded Collaborative Research Center TRR341 „Plant Ecological Genetics“. TRR341 is a new collaborative research center of the Universities of Cologne, Düsseldorf, Bochum, Marburg and the MPI. In a joint and interdisciplinary approach, the genetic basis of plant responses to global environmental change is investigated.

YOUR TASKS

  • Design, development and maintenance of a research data management environment for the TRR341 project in cooperation with C3RDM
  • Advice, support and training of the members of the research center regarding the correct handling of research data
  • Organizing and conducting workshops in the context of the TRR341 project
  • Active participation in events and committees on research data management
  • Publication and presentation of research results in work- stores, journals, etc.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Completed university studies (doctorate preferred, at least diploma or master‘s degree) in (bio)informatics, natural sciences, or a related field
  • Practical experience in setting up and operating IT systems in a professional environment
  • Preferably experience with Docker, Kubernetes and full-stack installation
  • Experience with technologies in the research data management environment, e.g. storage systems or data repositories
  • Preferably knowledge of metadata standards, data organization
  • Strong interest in research data management and open science
  • Excellent communication skills, especially in the scientific and interdisciplinary context
  • Fluent written and spoken English

The position is available from 01.01.2023 on a full-time basis (39,83 hours per week). Upon agreement it can also be filled on a part-time basis to facilitate the work-family balance. It is initially limited until 30.06.2026. If the applicant meets the relevant wage requirements and personal qualifications, the salary is based on remuneration group 13 TV-L of the pay scale for the German public sector.
