Responsibilities
Research associates will be expected primarily to teach and conduct research. The research associate will also have the opportunity to pursue further academic qualifications, in particular a doctoral dissertation. At least one-third of set working hours will be made available for the research associate’s own academic work.
Specific Duties
Highly motivated graduate students with Master degree are invited to apply for this PhD position at the interface of quantitative molecular biology/biochemistry and cell biology. The research includes elucidating the molecular mechanism of genetically inherited diseases. In our research we apply various deep-sequencing approaches to probe molecular mechanisms of disease. Our research models are differentiated iPSCs, neuronal tissues from laboratory models, and patient-derived cellular material. We are a highly interdisciplinary team of experimentalists and theoreticians with extensive experience in RNA biology, thus, this position offers a unique opportunity for collaboration and interactions with scientists with diverse scientific background.
Teaching duties currently comprise 2 teaching hours per week.
Requirements
A university degree in a relevant field.
Master's degree in bioinformatics or computer science. Experience with C/C++ programing, proficiency in scripting languages (R, Python) is desired. Additional experience with NGS and multi-omics data analysis and/or MD approaches would be beneficial.
