Jobbeschreibung

Hannover Medical School, Children’s Hospital, Interdisciplinary Experimental Transplantation is looking for a

100% Postdoctoral Research Fellow (f/d/m) for 5 years

in the field of transplantation and regenerative medicine. The laboratory has a longstanding interest in deciphering the contribution of cellular senescence and aging to pathological processes after transplantation. There is a particular focus on accelerated senescence in the kidney, but a growing interest on vascular changes. In translational approaches, we pursue various preventive strategies. Our work is constantly inspired by clinical studies that we perform to investigate cardiovascular und kidney diseases after pediatric solid organ and stem cell transplantation. This gives us the opportunity to answer certain research questions using patients’ material strengthening our basic research approach.

We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow with the following interests and competences:

  • Interest in research related to transplantation and/or regeneration with a particular focus on aging/senescence
  • A conscientious and scientifically-oriented work ethic with superior knowledge on accurate and responsible processing of experimental data including documentation, analysis and interpretation
  • Ability to formulate hypotheses and develop a work plan with clear and verifiable milestones.
  • Capability to optimize existing protocols, but also to identify and establish new methods
  • First experience in scientific manuscript writing and/or grant proposal writing
  • Previous exposure to animal experiments is extremely helpful as the laboratory works with several transgenic mouse strains and experimental models
  • Instructing and supporting students and doctoral candidates as part of their work (literature research, planning, evaluation, interpretation, manuscript planning)

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Completed doctorate (biology, chemistry, physics, medicine or comparable)
  • Proven expertise in animal work, ideally you hold the certificate "experimental animal science/animal welfare" according to the Directive 2010/63/EU (formerly FESALA B course).
  • In-depth skills in molecular biological methods and analytical processing. Expected experience in the following techniques: real-time PCR, immunohistochemistry, western blot or primary cell culture
  • Very good knowledge of spoken and written English

Your knowhow in one of the following criteria would be desirable:

  • Knowledge of single cell sequencing methodology and analytical evaluation.
  • Practical experience in genome editing, e.g. application of CRISPR Cas9 technology to generate modified cells (knock-in, knock-out)
  • Knowledge of epigenetic modification analysis, in particular DNA methylation
  • Knowledge and experience in next-generation sequencing (NGS)

We offer:

  • A 5 year position according TV-L 13 (German public servant remuneration grade)
  • An open communication culture as well as integration in a motivated team allowing flexible and modern organization of your working hours.
  • Collegial training and a wide range of further educational and development opportunities as well as a comprehensive health program for employees.

Our broad research spectrum offers a number of ways for you to become part of our young, multidisciplinary team that is well connected locally at the MHH, but also nationally and internationally. As a promising young scientist, we are eager to consider your talents and personal goals to further develop your career.

The position is initially limited to 5 years, a long-term continuation is possible. Remuneration is based on TV-L taking into account your qualifications.
