The Department of Dermatology, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Muenster, Germany is offering a position in the Research Group of Prof. Luise Erpenbeck at the earliest opportunity initially limited to a three years!

PostDoc (gn*) Biophysics

Full-Time with 38,5 (hours/week)

The position is being offered within the frameworks of the IZKF (Interdisciplinary Center for Clinical Research) of the Medical Faculty of Münster and the DFG-funded Collaborative Research Center TRR332 "Neutrophils: Origin, Fate and Function" and is situated at the interface between imaging, biophysical aspects of cellular functions and transcriptomic data and shall unravel novel functional aspects of neutrophil biology.
The project is part of the research group of Prof. Dr. Luise Erpenbeck at the Department of Dermatology and focuses on the analysis of immunological mechanisms from a biophysical and functional point of view, including collective cellular behavior. In vitro and in vivo models and translational approaches support the development of new therapies for inflammatory and autoimmunological diseases.Your tasks:
  • Collection and analysis of microscopic datasets
  • Transcriptomic analyses (bulk and single cell)
  • Basic immunological and molecular biology methods
  • Work with in vivo models and work with primary cells and patient material
  • Presentation and publication of research data
Your profile:
  • A completed PhD degree in the field of biology, biochemistry, molecular medicine (or equivalent)
  • Experience in molecular biological and immunological methods, such as purification of primary cells like neutrophil granulocytes, as well as experience with standard techniques (Western blot, immunofluorescence staining, PCR)
  • Expertise and interest in microscopic techniques (e. g. confocal microscopy, time-lapse and live-cell imaging, real-time calcium measurements)
  • Experience in (single cell) sequencing approaches, at least basic expertise of bioinformatic algorithms
  • Commitment to independent and team-oriented work
  • High proficiency in spoken and written English and good computer skills
  • commitment, ability to work in a team and interest in research-relevant topics optimally round off your profile
